From what I’ve seen, the shift fork issues were with lower gears but you may know more. I agree on more aggressive gear considering you’re 3.73 already. I would go for it.
I would ask myself how much do I daily my car compared to tracking or nitrous runs. I wouldn’t worry about 5th going out because you won’t be in it very long. But that’s just me.

Yep. Had a Vortech on my 22GT and swapped it for a Whipple. Still slow. Had a 23GT Whipple/Fore/Lund e85 3.25 pulley. Still slow. The play is gear change then blower.
Your car will still be slow with a blower. I’ve had 3 blowers on my MT-82D4’s all with 3.55’s and they were still dogs down low. Trust me on the gear change. Oh and run NittoR2’s on the back for traction.
