The first time it happened was on the Roush tune. I was told it was a bad coil, weak spark that caused it. Detonation happened in the ring groove. Under boost weak spark will cause the ring groove to fill with fuel. Getting out of boost causes accumulated fuel in the ring land to detonate...
Well I believe I've broken some ringlands again. Got on it going home from work. After the engine felt a little shaky accelerating, and some loss of power. Got codes P0148 fuel delivery lean 1 or more banks. P0300 2 or more cylinders experiencing misfires. P0303 & P0308 misfires in cylinders 3...
I got an email acknowledgment.
I hope you never have any real problems. You only have 30 days after installation to get the powertrain warranty. They can deny you if you didn't send in the warranty paperwork.
You have people that won't tell you how much octane boost they are using. They say they use a "splash" of octane booster. Really, a splash? I use 4 oz per tankful of Boostane Professional as insurance against getting a lower than 93 octane fuel. If I get some good 93 then that 4 oz of Boostane...
Some go with the ATI damper to run a overdrive pulley. They increase their boost with less possibility of belt slip. The ATI damper works well if installed properly.
I'd really like to see Roush offer a Phase 3 kit. With a better pump, phenolic spacers. a revised upper FEAD bracket for the phenolic spacers, lowering engine brackets and a 775 HP calibration like the Jack Roush Edition. But thats prolly asking for too much.
