My '15 had the same noise and it was the compressor. It was replaced under the extended warranty. When they did the leak down test they discovered the evaporator was bad so the dash came out to replace it. It's been a year since the repairs and so far no issues.

Do you know why the UK cars have 5W30 recommended if temp is one of the underlying issues going with a lighter oil? Nope. Very happy with mine. It's already had the normal issues corrected through warranty and no ticks or knocks. I think it would be foolish to trade in a quiet LE for a Bullitt with a Gen 3 motor that seems to have issues. I like the movie too, but not enough to make the trade.
