Now the only question left is whether the base/Tech cars have the *same* oil cooler as the Track car.

Did you trade in your 15? Curious to know how you did on that, I'm going to likely by trading mine in as well.

I sold my 2015 before I ordered the gt350. I did well on it because I sold it early on. Guard with velgens and a roush blower

I haven't seen a shift light yet, but I haven't ran the rpms up on it because of the bad fuel. Where am I looking?

From what I've seen so far, the only features that the base car is lacking from a track are the rear spoiler, magnaride, trans and diff coolers, and the aluminum strut tower brace

Everything else appears to be there on a base car. In my opinion, easily worth the $6500 savings. The only thing I'm wanting is the rear spoiler.

It's great to know that the base car is much stiffer than the GTPP. I'm hoping that the MR suspension is mainly to give you the option of more comfort rather than vastly superior handling. I really want the base 350 to deal out a beating to the Camaro for close to the same price.

This^^ + would be nice to see that the base runs a track time within a second or so of the track pack car. What an amazing value it would make it. A FPC engined car that can run C7 track times and have the option to bring the family along to the track (if that's your thing).

I can't imagine a scenario where the base gt350 doesn't wax a new ss camaro. I haven't driven a 2016 ss camaro but it can't be as good of a package as the 350. Maybe I'm biased.....

Not to take away from the track package, because I'm sure it's awesome, but I bet the base v. Track (or tech) thing would come down to driver skill. I'm sure the magnaride stuff is great, but same car with the same horsepower, tires and weight are going to result in similar times, even with the difference in dampers. It would take the best of drivers, in my opinion, to reap the benefits of the magnaride setup. Now the diff and tranny coolers might play a role on long track sessions. I don't know about s550 cars, but 99-04 irs equipped Cobras will push out rear end fluid on long sessions.

A word to the wise...

Stop the dealer before they fill your car full of 87 octane. The gt350 is probably the only car on your dealer's lot that requires premium, so it's an easy and honest mistake.

Ordered base car with stripes and car cover. The car cover made it to the dealer before the car did. The chin spoiler did not. I have to return to the dealer for the spoiler. May be why some of you are receiving the "material hold"?

On first impressions, I have no regrets for saving money by buying the base package car.
