Rant: Stock P-Zero Nero on non-PP GTs

These tires just suck.

In every way.

I pushed the car a little bit in the rain this morning (~55 deg ambient) and they were just hopeless. They won't put power down, but by far the worst part is their cornering ability. It's bad enough in the dry (0.83G :frusty::frusty, but miserable in the wet.

How did they decide this was an acceptable tire to put on a Mustang? Can't wait to switch onto my winter Bridgestones WS80s...

I know, but still. A performance car, even in base form, should have more capable tires. I think the base V6/EB Goodyear tires are better in all measures except they're not W-rated.

I've seen alot cars like BMW X5, Gen 5 Camaro RS with P- Zero...It looks like most manufactures fall for Pirellis shitty performance tires. Dunlops are better brand from my user experience.

Iv'e had Dunlop all season's that had more grip in the summer than these P zero's!

Ya they aren't the best, but not bad enough for me to junk them before they are worn. Going to put 10-15k on them, then go to Continentals or Nittos

They are not that bad when the temps are warm. But anything below 65 degrees f and the become slick as hell.

It has been in the 50's lately, and while i dont need to ever drive in the snow, i am tempted to get some all seasons just for the cold.

You're lucky you're on the 19s! They are about a 0.89-0.90G tire vs 0.83 for the 235/50R18s.

The 20" summers and PP P-zeros aren't bad, except in the cold.

Better than the Goodyear Eagle RS-A's that came on GM cars such as the G8 GT. Worst tires I've ever had, followed closely by these Pirelli's...

And actually according to TireRack, Ford believes the P - Zeros are best tire for this car...Even after losing in the H2H. :doh:

Randy was most likely paid to say the P-Zeros are good.

I know. 255 really is the minimum that should be on this car for a non-winter tire. Heavy, powerful car requires more tire

I was also astonished when i realized my 15' premium had the dang rubber band 235's on the 18's.. im trying to figure out now what is the best combo of width vs brand/compound i can fit on these 18's. Very surprising to put a not so highly rated tire and so small on. but i guess its all about costs.

The widest you can go is 255 on an 8" rim, but the sidewall will be bulging over. 245/45R18 fits well but is just a little smaller in diameter vs. the 235/50.

Since I plan to DD this on A/S and winters, and have a nice wide set of summers at some point for Autocross/Track, I'll probably end up with a 255 on these rims...perhaps a 255/45R18.
