Hi Andy,
I'm a big Mustang fan but before putting my money down for one I have a few questions and wondering if you could answer them please.
Have the cup holder and brake been moved for the RHD Mustang, as otherwise it somewhat defeats the point in having a cup holder if you have to reach over a drink to reach the handbrake? Also, if you are resting your arm over the cup holders as they are off-centre?

Why are the rear lights white rather than red like in the US?

Why is the GT350 not coming to the UK? It is clear there is demand! Can you not put a word in the ear of the 'powers that be' please?!
Thanks

Mark

Hi Mark,
Andy has forwarded me your email.
We are now only a few days away from loading to the ford.co.uk website the full Mustang brochure which includes many new images inside the car. Do check it out as you’ll get a better idea of the centre console design.
The cup holder and handbrake set up is the same for both LHD and RHD cars. The drinks should sit low enough in the cup holders to avoid any issues reaching the handbrake.
The US red rear lights are not homologated for Europe. Rather than just fitting orange bulbs for Europe, it was an early design choice to develop a different set of tail lamps for European markets, to give European cars their own unique style, and make them immediately recognisable.
With regards to the GT350, I share your enthusiasm, but we simply couldn’t make the business case work as the volumes would be too small.
Do let me know if you need further help. The first dealer demonstrator vehicles are about 3 months away, but please also be aware that the level of interest so far has been very high and FordStores are currently quoting leadtimes of 8 months (2.3 EcoBoost) to 13 months (V8) for the delivery of an order placed today.
Regards,
Pierre

Good to see that Ford UK seem to be improving on the customer service side of things! :ford:

You sent that to the head of Ford UK?!

Two minutes on this site would have given you the answers to the first two and the answer to the third is fairly obvious.

Confused as to the difference between V8 and ecoboost times though as my V8 was built the same day as an ecoboost.

Smack down:paddle: on the first bit :)

The poor lad was just trying to get some info and maybe didn't have time to get to the website. Also, he probably hasn't seen any of the other posts covering the queries asked or the fact that we all need to get over the handbrake / cup holder issue there are some many current cars from every brand have this set up but no one is saying don't buy one the handbrake is in the wrong side.

The EB V8 maybe to do with a redesign that is in the pipeline and the the different manifold or whatever it was that they had to move for the rhd version - maybe it takes a while to get the new bits they need? Or maybe they are just selling shed loads in the Lhd market that supply and demand means less v8 units for the rhd side?

I appreciate that but really...

If you're looking to buy a product but have some questions, is your first port of call to do a little bit of research yourself, or fire an email to the chairman of the company via an email address he was kind enough to publicise to help out frustrated customers that have already parted with their money?

Yes I am having a bad day! ;)

I wish that they had just put orange bulbs into the US-spec tail lights for Europe rather than have the white ones. It isn't really a big deal as I'm likely to get them tinted anyway which is a good thing as some US buyers have stated that the brake lights seem to be very bright.

Pierre also told me that the white European lights were an early design decision to differentiate the US Mustang from the Euro one.

But we want US Mustangs. That's the whole point.

Infuriating.

In any case I hope that whoever made and signed off this 'early design decision' is by now well aware of their blunder and will make sure it's rectified on the MCA programme.
Same goes for EU-unique badges, I guess.

Yes exactly, that was half the point of my e-mail. Although it's obviously upset Centurion07 who is clearly a highly sensitive soul - maybe next time don't read my posts if they upset you so much.

Well since you brought me up again....

I appreciate you're new to this clusterfuck that is the ordering process for the Mustang, but as I pointed out, 2 minutes of googling would have answered your questions, and even if it didn't, they're not suddenly going to swap anything over mid-production are they? So all you did was take up the time of people who are actually trying to help those of us who've actually ordered and are now waiting for our cars.

As I said, why email the UK MD to ask about bloody cup holders? !

Yes I'm a grumpy twat again today .

An e-mail hardly takes up much time does it - maybe 10 minutes? I'm not going to get into a petty argument as you clearly have a chip on your shoulder. As I said, don't read my e-mails if they upset you.

I actually prefer the EU lights and badges ...... you can't please all of the people all of the time, as the phrase has it. Not an American car or life-long Mustang fan though, so maybe that's got something to do with it?

I was more alarmed by the GT350 news. I really don't understand why Ford think they wouldn't sell enough? GT350R or M4? ..... no contest as far as I'm concerned. I saw a comment somewhere about BMW being able to make a business case for half a dozen RHD M cars in the UK alone, so surely Ford could come up with a global business case for just one performance car - even if they were all LHD!

Completely agree with you on the GT350, surely they could make a business case, even if partially based on the demand for the standard Mustangs?!
