OK. Too many owners since early August and many new upcoming owners day by day.

As we all know the first day(s) everyone is happy. The car runs nice and smooth etc.

But what's happening after the first 3-4-5 thousands of kil. ? when reality replace enthousiasm?

I think it's time to share your true impression. Let's discuss about the build quality control (except some known visual body panel misalighnments). Any strange noises? Any harshness from the dash/doors etc? Electrical glitches?

Don't be shy

Well, in this case I think you should wait longer. I've driven 3200km in one month, but enthusiasm hasn't gone yet. ;)
In my case, apart of the small misalignments mentioned since the beginning, I haven't found anything else.
Just two comments:
- Memory seats would have been very, very helpful. The bad access to rear seats makes you move passenger seat forward every time someone gets in. So passenger has to adjust his/her seat every time.
- The space between the driver seat "ears" and wheel is so small that you scratch seat ear every time you get in. I usually wear jeans and I've already noticed some wear in the leather . Memory seats would have fixed this too.

This is the only new annoying thing I've noticed recently. Probably because this is my first 2 door car.

Only at 1000Km so far and apart from a few misalignment things and some paint issues I'm still very happy. Ive been promised that everything will be fixed or solved, so fingers crossed.

Protecting the seats and other parts are important to do them now. For the leather I will order Cquartz fabric/Leather http://www.amazon.com/Cquartz-Fabric-Leather-Coating-100/dp/B00FPWPNWI or the 3M variant.

Memory seats, I'm working on it with my dealer, as soon as I know exactly what to do Ill report to you guys.

As an alternative for the doorplate buttons we came up with the idea to place them in the seat as we still don't know if the wiring is in place and the door knobs/plate is available without buying a full door panel. (No support from For EU so far)

don't want to hijack this thread :) , but this subject is interesting. I've search some info on wing mirrors some days ago and found that there are differences in its components between cars equipped with memory seats and those without.
Problem is, there are no wing mirrors with power folding AND memory function :-/
Yes, we could forget about that and use MS only for the seats settings..
Also I bet we will have issues with menu settings since we need it for the easy exit function, but the entry is not available in our settings - it probably requires modifications in the ECU.

We need a separate thread :)

I discussed the software as well, they said if you connect the car to the service computer it could be that all settings are in place for every option, all you need to do then is unlock it when the modules are installed.

I will also ask for the easy exit, and see if it's there but locked. I also tried the disable seat-belt warning trick and it doesn't work on the EU spec.

For the mirrors, we have to deal with the dumbo's, although I find them very useful so far except, I'm still a bit unsure about turning to the left lane so far as you can't flip your head of your left shoulder to double check for blind spots.

Thanks, I see that you have a good and competent dealer :)

:eyebulge: for the seat-belt warning trick! I was planning to do it immediately at the dealer because I hate those stupid warnings..
Easy exit requires memory seats, so it's probably tied to that module.

I was speaking of mirrors because the memory seats includes memory of wing mirrors position. Someone sets the position '3' with mirrors all the way down to help when doing reverse :) (feature available in other cars)

Here's a trick I used in my Renault 10 years ago to kill the seatbelt beep:

http://www.cabriault.com/meganecc/tips/beep/index_uk.htm
I modified my Alfa Romeo in a similar way (unplugged the connector from under the seat cushion) but when trying to did the same on my brother's Mercedes A class, I f*cked up the ECU and he needed the dealer' assistance to fix it

Don't know if simply disconnerct something will work on modern cars..

Hopefully they'll add these to Flat Rock...
"multiple new attention-to-detail stations at Louisville Assembly Plant, Ford is putting more emphasis than ever on delivering the highest-quality Escape to its customers."

https://media.ford.com/content/fordmedia/fna/us/en/news/2016/03/18/2017-escape.html

At each of these stations – in just 45 seconds – vehicle quality is verified to ensure that every Escape meets the high standard for quality compact SUV drivers in North America expect.

Automated instrument panel decking: The use of robots to install instrument panels has now migrated to the company’s plants globally, but Louisville was Ford’s first North American facility to use robots for the task. Here, from a nearby conveyor, a robot attaches to an Escape instrument panel, then rotates toward the shell of a vehicle. Angling the instrument panel through a door-less opening, the robot nestles it in place with unwavering accuracy and assured repeatability, says Escape chief engineer Milton Wong. The robot even secures a few bolts to hold the panel in place until humans can complete more detailed aspects of the process further down the line. Customer benefits include a tighter fit for the instrument panel, resulting in fewer squeaks and rattles.
Robotic arms hang doors, liftgate: Highly efficient robotic arms lift door panels and liftgates from a nearby conveyor hanger and swing them into place with computer-guided consistency. These revolutionary robots were added when Escape production moved to Louisville for the 2013 model year. Customer benefits include tighter fit with body panels.
Easy speed testing: To ensure that closing a door on Escape is consistently effortless, a worker applies suction cup-backed sensors to either side of a door opening, then closes the door by hand to get a velocity reading, which calculates the amount of effort required. Once it’s verified the amount of effort does not exceed the Ford standard, the tools are quickly moved to the next door for another test. Customer benefit is that minimum effort is required to close doors.
Vehicle on wheels cell: As each Escape moves along the line, it passes through the vehicle on wheels cell, where robots wielding lasers scan every gap between door panels, hood and liftgate. Through laser measurement, they quickly determine all gaps are within the 2 millimeter to 4 millimeter range. Customer benefits include tighter fit and finish of body panels.
Customer assurance line: A 14-person inspection team combs over the finest details on each new Escape. A technician tests electrical modules, while another checks the engine. Some rely on their hands; others, their eyes. It’s a meticulous process, as team members work with frenzied precision like a pit crew attending to a race car. Customer benefit is improved overall vehicle quality.

About 5000 km soon and haven't noticed much strange things. Here are a few things that bother me

  • The driver's seat had small scratches in the beginning but you do not see it unless you are 10cm away with your eye. I use the sonax product for the leather and seems to do its job, have not noticed anything in the seats since then. I have to say that I am always careful and putting my hand on the support part of the seat so my jeans do not touch the car that much when I enter.

  • Memory seats would have been a much needed option. Kinda funny it did not come with the Premium pack and why they did not put that option for the EU cars  .

  • The DAB reception is not that great, you get some blanks sometimes driving on an open road, it does not bother me that much because I listen to CDs 99% of the time.

  • With the automatic we have this weird metallic noise when the car is cold and when you shift from P to D or R to D. No one knows if this is normal, some dealers say yes others no, haven't had the chance yet to bring the car and show it.

Would love to have the memory seats as well, even though I know what parts we need the issue is that we also need the wiring en software. For Euro-stang they made a complete different wiring loom for the whole car.
I put my hope on several company's to come up with after market solutions for the Euro-stang. Not only the seats, but also the lights, active exhaust systems etc.

The DAB receptions is not that great indeed, I rather put it on FM, CD, USB etc...

The metallic noise disappeared on mine after about 4500KM, it's smooth as butter now. Also remember that this car is still a real car with nuts & bolts, a car you can work on and mod as long as you have it or as long as want to...

The only trouble I've had so far is that on two occasions, my instrument panel lights went from white 'daytime' lights to nothing at all, when entering a tunnel, instead of going to 'night mode'.

On one other occasion, the entire electricity to the cabin cut out. Center display, lights, everything, for about half a second, then it came back.

So it would seem there's some problem with the electrics to the interior.
