my update: 1120 miles so maybe 400-500 since the CEL was cleared and fuel cleaner was used. Haven't come back

I drove my car in all conditions yesterday and put on 150 miles. I took my car to the malibu canyons yesterday and drove it hard throughout all gears and power band, also spent 2 hours in stop and go traffic and also high way cruising.

If it in fact is gone for good... couple possibilities I can think of:

1) Dealer replaced the spark plugs. Ended up helping
2) Fuel cleaner did it
3) Just normal ECU bugs while the car was getting used to its environments?

Im not sure.. Could come back I guess but hard to see under what conditions it would

Cold Start Misfire & CEL Light

Guys here's what happened to mine:

Cool spring morning last Friday (not even slightly comparable to our good old Canadian cold winter morning, and the car was garaged), I started the car, the engine rev'ed above 1,000 rpm and was misfiring. After it finished the automatic start-up warm-up rev dropped back down and the misfiring was gone. I drove to the destination and parked there for the day. That night I started the car, no misfiring, but CEL came on.

I drove home, very smooth, no misfire. Checked online and in the forum, all kinds of complaints, frustrations, and scary stuff. Then I checked my owner's manual. It basically says: whatever issue the computer detected that caused the CEL, if it is not recurring or not causing damage, the CEL will go off after "3 cold starts with nothing detected".

So I waited. Monday (yesterday) I started the car in the morning, the CEL went off. It was bang-on with the "3 cold starts" stated on the owner's manual.

Initially I was already quite skeptical to bring it to the dealer. More so now when the light went off on its own. They may actually do some damages screwing around, as they are learning about this new engine just like we do.

I'm starting to link the reason behind cold start misfire and a block-heater that only comes with the ecoboost. Well, this week is over 10'C, and its going up. May have to wait till next winter to confirm...!!!

Hey guys,

Let me know what's going on with the check engine lights. If you have any information that you'd like to have documented, or if you'll be taking it to the dealer, send over a PM with some info. I'll check into it.

How about we get an ETA of when the TSB will be out? Or if it is even in the works? Ford keeps asking us for information, but supplies us none with a potential solution or timeframe.

I have a case number also with Jeff. I'm bringing my car in into a local dealership as well. Me and spdracer50 bought our car at the same dealership but that dealership is a good hour away with traffic in LA. He seems to suggest I try a different place as their techs are fully stumped with the issue.

My CSM from Ford said he'll help to schedule and they're going to provide me with a loaner which is all that I ask for the time being. I can't NOT have a loaner as this is my only car.

Anyway I'll also keep everyone posted.

So far on this thread we have 4 people actively having this problem with Ecoboost:

Dabsevo
Spdracer50
swiftspeed10
Roidrage

Let's keep everyone updated so we don't reinvent the wheel.
You can add me to the list, 1400 miles on a ecoboost pp manual, Light came on at start up this morning.

Yeah this happened to me twice now CEL would come on and after 3 cold startups It Goes away. It was a nice warm afternoon 68f (20c) then watched a movie came back at 11:30p about 50f (10c) CEL came on. Felt the rough idling at start up then needle dropped passed 1k it got smoother. Got a midnight snack still CEL. After a cold morning start up CEL, after church CEL, had a nice dinner boom it was gone. So this kinda worries me if this keeps happening.

I've been contacted by Ford HQ by letter to apply to potentially give feedback about issues with the car that will reach the engineers. I went online and applied using a code they provided and if i get selected, I tell them issues about my car and what can be improved. Ill be sure to mention the CEL of course.

I think I have one of those, too. I got a letter from Ford and started reading it but didn't get too far when it looked like a survey. I'll have to look again.

CEL is off at the moment, BTW. Typically off for a few days then on for a few days then off... Asked my dealer today if Ford has issued any sort of update about it yet. I'll post if he has anything new to offer.

Yeah i'd double check. thought it was a survey as well, which it is. But they use it to screen owners and if you get selected, they want to interview you for 2 hours and pay you $150. not bad

got a CEL also at about 500 miles, this is what the said: SSM 45011 - 2015 Mustang 2.3L GTDI With Manual Transmission Misfire DTCs P030x and P0316
2015 Mustangs equipped with 2.3L Gasoline Turbocharged Direct Injection(GTDI) and manual transmission may exhibit Diagnostic Trouble Codes P0300, P030x or P0316 stored in Powertrain Control Module memory. If unable to determine root cause of concern after performing Powertrain Control and Emissions Manual(PCED) Pin Point Test HD do not attempt additional repairs. Clear DTCs and return vehicle to customer. Engineering is investigating this concern. Monitor OASIS for future updates.

I have only put 91 octane which is the highest octane in California, I have done over 20 0-60 runs and my best time was 7.1 honestly I was getting better times in my stock 2008 Civic Si. My car feels sluggish and no matter how I launch my car(sport + mode on), track mode and various RPM launches I cannot get better than a 7.1

It's actually an event that's local. I think it also involves driving as she mentioned something about that and how I need to bring my car with ID.

But as an update, i think im around 1420 miles or so. CEL has not come back
