No not those kinds. Models of cars and such. Haven’t done anything like this is over 20 years and got a wild hair to build one. Supported the local hobby store and selected a ‘66 GTO for the first go coming back to this. I think it came out pretty good considering I only used 1 brush and no paint booth. Sprayed on cardboard on the garage floor so dust was inevitable. Paint selections were limited at the hobby store so went with a green and added some glitter spray and finished with a clear. About 15 coats total on the body. Now that it’s done, I’ve ordered a ‘69 BOSS 302 and some tools to do a much better job hopefully.

It was a practice model for sure. I'll be going super slow and focused on the next one. Even got some 12000-32000 polishing sheets to really get it shining. Also got some cardboard from work to make a paint booth of sorts to try and limit dust. Kind of excited to build it and it's not even here yet. I also intend on building a display shelf/case for them at some point.

A metal P51 sounds awesome too! My favorite old planes would be the Corsair and the P38 Lightning. F4 Phantom is up there too and of course my all time favorite plane is the A10 Warthog. Maybe I'll do a P51 to display behind the mustang I'm doing next. I haven't ever built a plane model.

When I was younger I used to build the engine nacelles on the real A10 for fairchild republic.

Have you noticed that everything is much straighter and in line compared to when you were younger and didn't care as much? :giggle:

And don't get me started on the 15 coats. Looks good.

you may want to pick up a small compressor and air brush. I haven't used mine in years but they would do well for modeling. The P51D is a stamped metal model. I haven't taken it apart yet. I'm sure I'll need the dremel for all the spurs. A10 would be an awesome model ....the plane not the transmission :cwl: growing up was all military models and rat rods!

Thank you! I did have a small run because patience (or lack of!) but you can barely notice. The glitter paint was fun but not sure I'll use it again. I was going more for a silver shine but it still looks good.

Only military model I did was with my dad when we built an aircraft carrier. Everything else was cars. I do remember at one point I was taking the bigger engines from one and putting it on other ones I wanted to modify. Instead of cutting hoods I would just throw them away lol.

I always wanted an air brush! I may have to look into it for the next next one hahah.

I did that too. I would swap wheels from one car to the other. My first mods!
