This article really points out process of building a chip. It‘s just not as easy as build it and throw it into a car. So things will be tough for a little longer than a lot of people thought.

So how will this effect the launch of the 2022 S550 and the introduction of the 2023 S650? I guess it’s wait and see.

Yet I don t think 2-4% off invoice for a Mach 1 is too bad. IF we ever see the car this year.

I'd expect the '22MY to arrive "on schedule" in January 2022, with order banks opening in October as per info suppled by @amk91

1. Job 1 is supposed to be January 3, 2022
2. 2021MY ordering ends October 1, 2021.
3. 2022MY Ordering opens October 11, 2021
4. 2021MY Production ends on December 23, 2021

S650? Well, if it's going to still be a '23MY, then they've got a maximum of just over a year before production starts.

I don't see the chip shortage having a bearing on either car. They'll just be forced to produce less of them.

Of course, there could well be other factors that extend the timeline for S650. I'm still waitin' on those first proper prototype spy shots!

With every model year change over, there's a last date to order the current model year and it's always to similar timescales to the above. However, if an order was placed that couldn't be fulfilled for some reason, I'm guessing the customer would be offered a replacement, even if that's a '22MY.

Yeah, but these are different times. Who knows what will happen. The damn pandemic isn't getting better, it's worse than ever in some places.

So how many vehicles are being produced per day compared to how many are being total lossed ?

I fear the used car market may be flooded with rebuilds.

Your price is locked in at the time the vehicle is ordered. As long as the dealer delivers the vehicle as a retail order to the customer who's name is on it, the price will not increase. We ran into this a handful of times this year when the mach 1 received a mid-year price hike.

I don't doubt the manufacturers are going to have issues producing cars through this upcoming year. If anything, it bodes well to the dealers that really do well with ordering a sold order for a customer, because they will get a bigger piece of the pie, rather than a dealer that is relying solely on selling off the lot.

So for us, we plan on staying as aggressive as every on a retail order placed by a customer because its a win for us with extra allocation and a win for you with the best pricing available.
