Guesses on what LE#1453 is going to bring at Barrett Jackson Thursday evening? IMO if the car bring anything over 45k that's a good sign for the future value for the low milage cars.

I think Barrett Jackson has 8 percent sellers fee and 10 percent buyers fee so that car sold for a little under 32k If I understand the auction rules.

I added sellers fee for what the actual seller got in his pocket. Auction Houses love their money too. But like you said someone paid 34,500 for it so that is a better number to go by.

Okay not sure what the difference is.. I watched it sell online it sold for 34k said the fees were 10% and when they posted the final sales price it was what was on the pic above.

So I'm assuming they don't show the sellers fee just the auction fee in the final price.

I can't understand buying a car and not driving it. It's just me, but if you're an enthusiast (as I'm guessing someone buying and LE is) how could you resist not driving it. I know the cars look good but they're not artwork. Driving is the best part. Just my opinion I know others obviously feel different.

Correct. Seller fee is not part of the equation as to value. It is just the cost of doing business for the seller to sell their car- like a very expensive ad or Craigs list fee.

The “value” or selling price of the car is $37,400. That is what the buyer pays- the amount that the buyers checking/credit line account is reduced by. It is the “hammer” amount plus 10% buyers premium ( note that different auction companies have different buyer fee structures).

What does the seller get? Hammer price less the sellers fee - which appears to be 8% ($2,720) for this auction. Note that all auctions have different seller fees and sometimes waive them to get a seller to put up a car they know will sell for serious dollars with a high buyer fee that the auction house is happy to collect. As an rxample- if you show up with an uber rare 1971 Hemi ‘Cuda Convertible B-J would probably be more then willing to waive the sellers fee in light of the preauction publicity the car will bring along with a very substantial buyers premium. When Ron Pratt sold off most of his collection a couple yrs ago you had better believe he cut a deal with B-J as to the seller fees he paid.

Thus:

Selling price-what the buyer pays: $37,400
Buyer collects: $31,280
Barrett-Jackson earns: $6,120
