So I just received my rotors and have the same issue as JOKER GT with different colored rotors. But after sending them an email with a picture there final reply was there was nothing they could do and offered to give me a $25.00 dollar refund and apologized for the inconvenience. I told them they had made things right for a fellow forum member and their response was the fronts and backs come from two different manufacturers and they had no way of getting me a set that would match. Guess I got ahold of a different customer service person than everyone else that has dealt with them. So I guess I’ll ask for a refund or make a claim with Pay Pal.

If it helps any, the second set of front and rears weren’t perfect and when I cleaned the oil off they looked a lot better. Since I was painting the top hats and I figured once the pads wore on the rotors they would look better and they did. Couldn’t even tell the difference, basically went away.

My set looked exactly like your first set. If they will look even close to the same color after breaking them in I would be ok with that but they are so different right now that I’m skeptical they would get close. Do you think your first set would have came close if you used them?

Knowing what I know now if I were doing it again I wouldn’t worry about it. I suggest scrubbing all 4 rotors with break cleaner then see what you think. I’m not sure I have any pics of the second set but they weren’t much better than the first set

Thanks I really appreciate your reply. I’ll give it a shot and see how it goes.

I will but it will probably be a month before I put them on, going to have surgery on my shoulder, but once I’m back up and running I’ll post how it turns out.

Does anyone have experience with these rotors in HPDE events? How do they hold up?

For what it's worth, I ordered a set (PP car) and as far as I can tell all 4 rotors are effectively the same color. I lined them up straight out of the box and can't tell a difference.

Sounds like maybe this is just hit or miss situation. The seller was easy-peasy to work with. I'm on the east coast and had them 2 days after clicking "buy now". My only gripe was w/FedEx... They pulled up and unloaded the two heavy boxes leaving them in my driveway in front of my garage door.... I guess that's better than throwing them in the general direction of my front door (my typical experience with that carrier), but c'mon man!

Yep, I ran them this weekend and after 1 and a half sessions, the driver side front rotor failed catastrophically causing loss of brakes at 100mph. Thankfully there was lots of run off and a gravel pit where it happened. Otherwise I'm sure It would have ended much worse. This Also happened to someone else at MSR Cresson this weekend. Same exact failure in the same exact spot. Mine were form brakmotive and his from Powerstop which is further evidence that they are the same rotors. Also, I did a little research and found that Brakemotive's address is a UPS store that happens to be 4 blocks from Powerstop in Chicago. Do NOT buy these rotors. Especially if you track your car.

First I'm glad your ok...could have been super bad.

However why would you run a budget rotor at an event to begin with? Even the powerstop track kit has solid rotors and different pads. For street use these will be fine. For any type of aggressive driving I wouldn't have run them myself and I have never run a HPDE in my life..if a newb like me knows better..

Don't blame the part if you did something with it that it wasn't designed for.

Don't blame the part??? I did something with the part it wasn't designed for? Where do they say not designed for hard stops? Or even not designed for track use?

If you feel safe using these on the street after seeing that pic, be my guest. Like I said this happened after one session on track not pushing very hard at all. And also happened to another mustang this weekend.

This could definitely happen in an emergency stopping situation on the street also. I'm just warning people of the possible danger. Do with the info what you want.

What pads were you running? Those rotors look like they were very very hot which is typically an indicator of a mismatch of brake compound or a bedding issue along with lack of cooling.

I was running Powerstop track day pads. Also followed their bedding instructions to the T. Either way improper bedding can't possibly be blamed for this type of failure.
