Well, I was planning on starting the process of ordering the bride a 2018 GT Vert in March. Now, the scuttlebutt is that ain't gonna happen as Ford has said that the '19 orders will open somewhere around that time. Is there any more info. ref. the timing, and approx. start date for the '19's production? Dang, I was hoping to have the car for her to drive in the summer of '18, but it doesn't look like that's going to happen. TIA

In the same boat. Was just waiting for the 17's to flush out so the 18's would see a little bit of incentives. Mine will likely have to be an order since an loaded manual convert in my preferred color is pretty unlikely to be found in stock at any of my local dealers. Seems a little odd that they would drag their feet to release the 18's then start 19's so soon after.

Same, I suspect that it may take quite a while for the incentives. 18's will be sold in 18, so even though the 19s will be out it won't be like they are trying to clear out the 18s in November, and 19's will be around for a year and a half before they become last year.

This is the only place I know of where people order cars. :headbonk:

Most people I know ( Myself included ) go to the dealer and see what they have in stock and then go to other dealers and see what they have if the the 1st dealer don't or the dealer will do a search for the car and options you want.

Do they come down in price when you order a New Car ? I have no idea.

Agreed. But I have like 5 Ford dealers within 30 miles. Double that in 100 mi. I can always find something on the lot. I’m not picky though; only thing I required was PP. I’ve never ordered a car and have always gotten $5-7k off MSRP. I doubt I’d come close to that ordering a car.

I have one dealer within 5 miles that usually has 1 Mustang in stock. If I go out to 80 miles I have two more. If I go out to 120 then I have probably about 20.

Some people also enjoy being the first people to put miles on the car.

I would think the start date for the 19's would be in late fall of 18.

The Dodge boys have been ordering their cars also. I ordered '16 Charger Scat Pack and a '17 Scat Pack. It just takes a few weeks to get, but like was mentioned, you don't have to worry about how many times people got in/out of your car and scuffed the sill plates or rubbed the side seat bolster.

When ordering your car, you get exactly what you ordered, plus any incentives available either at the time of order, or at the time of delivery, whichever is better, and you can negotiate your price. So, the only downside to ordering is having to wait a few weeks. Sometimes, you can get an even better deal by ordering because the dealer holdback of 3% is to be used for dealer costs while the car sits on the lot. If you pick up the car, the day it's delivered, a $40k car now has $1200 of additional negotiation you can fight for.

R&R, I'm one of those that wants what I want, and the dealers in my area never have exactly what I want. They usually get close, but never on the nose. Also, it seems 98% of the cars will have black interior as it's the color that is least objectional to those that buy off the lot. And, this being the wife's car she likes a contrasting color other than black. The wait always sux, but worth it to us.

Well, it looks like it will be a '19. We will be out of town to many day between now, and March to get anything going before the cut off date. But that's OK, I wasn't looking to get any incentives, even on the 18's. If they are there it's an added plus in my book.

To clarify - I would MUCH rather deal on a car off the lot. Better deals, no waiting, etc. We don't all live near dealers like Koons that have hundreds in stock at any given time. My two closest dealers have at most a dozen 18's in stock combined, about the same number of 17's and NO GT converts. While I will of course check, I am assuming a manual convert in the color I want with all the options I want is unlikely to be found within a reasonable drive.

This is a second car I hope to keep a long time. Since I'm in no hurry, I want it exactly to my specs.
