So my son has a SCT tuner from a 2011 F-150 he had which had a Coyote in it. He just got a 2016 California Special. The F-150 was de-tuned and the tuner has just been sitting around.
Can he call SCT and get it programmed for his CS for less than having to buy a new tuner? I am sure he can sell the F-150 tuner as is and buy a Mustang tuner, but maybe it will cost less to have it reprogrammed if possible?

For what it's worth, he had a costume tune on the F-150 and it made the 5.0 come alive and shift like nobodies business.

Well cool. Thanks. That is the one he has. The web site reads like it has the tune already on the X4. Just de-tune the F-150 and then he can tune the CS no purchase necessary.

As long as the tuner reads unmarried and you are golden.
Why would you want to run a canned sct tune?

As long as its an sct x4 you can update the tuner via wifi and there should be tunes for the 16 mustang available, he may need to reset the device if he had custom tunes for the truck, some tuners lock the canned tunes from being used. Although I highly recommend he spend a couple hundred bucks and get a quality tune from palm beach dyno or lund.

He had a custom tune on the F-150. The F-150 was restored to factory setting with the tuner so hopefully its not locked but since it was loaded with a custom tune, maybe? He wanted to do a canned tune first just to see how it was then put a custom on. I know the custom tune on the F-150 was much better than the initial canned tune.

I had custom tunes on my x4 for an f150 and when I loaded them onto my tuner from the computer it locked the canned tunes. All it took was a factory reset to get them back so I could put a canned tune on another vehicle. Not all tuners do that, but its not a big deal regardless.

Steeda Tune works on SCT x4 and its a great, safe tune
Yes, our tune is safe, reliable & powerful - a very good trio of attributes!

Just delete the F150 custom tune, update the device and you will be able to load the SCT tune for the Mustang (as long as the F150 was returned to stock the device will be unmarried).

I ran the SCT canned tune for a while and it was pretty good actually! I even datalogged it and everything looked great!

I have a Lund Flex Fuel tune now, which is absolutely awesome!

OK. Thanks. I mailed the tunner to him. The F-150 was returned to stock so when he gets it, he will delete the custom tune then update the tunner. We should know Friday.

Canned tune is now installed. He is going to report back if it makes difference over stock.

Nice!

The SCT canned tunes are not as bad as everyone makes them out to be. There are thread floating around showing dyno comparisons on the same car and mods, and a 'custom tune' made ~5 more whp over the canned tune. Completely negligible IMO.

Unless you have an A6. Shifts like total crap at WOT.
