I have a theory that BMW drivers are allergic to the inside lane. Only this morning did a guy joining from the slip road move very quickly from inside to outside lane, passing VERY close behind me - I was middle lane.

I will leave you to guess if the guy was using his indicators or not!
I was a member of a focus group about 3 or 4 years ago for the BMW i3 and i8. One of the questions was along the lines of 'how would you describe BMW drivers?'. I said 'wankers' and got a glare from the moderator.
Mind you, I still got my £50 attendance fee.

That's kinda funny; because in the states BMW drivers are non as non-attentive selfish drivers that pull out in front of you and don't know how to use a turn signal.

In England they're known as that. And more.

Typically they do/are the following:
* Drive up your ar$e
* Speed
* Are on finance / financed by people who cannot afford the car (People who work in maccies financing it to look like ballers etc)
* Don't indicate
* Selfish drivers
* Phone salesmen (old stereotype)
* W4nkers

I think 99% of the people who drive a BMW is a middle manager that has it as a company car, lots of 3 series, and they're driven by people who aspire to be a middle manager, that's where all the 1 series come in. The head guy in IT here drives a 1 series, the lowly guy working in the trenches, me, drives a Mustang GT. His house does have 900 bedrooms though compared to my 2.

Yep, just like them here in the states. Good to see how a brand changes people world wide. You don't want to taint that image of being a pompous ass.

Thing is though, they're obviously not all like that :rolleyes: so if you were, say, the kind of guy that pigeon-holes people in that way then really who is the ar$ehole?

Playing devils advocate ;)

Coming to the defence of BMW, I actually think they produce some decent cars - the M2, for example, is a great car as was the E90 M3. Much prefer BMW to Audi and Mercedes which just produce airheads cars like the TT. The problem with BMW is it seems to have become a magnet for chavs.

Agree, nice looking things some of them. Same as Audi - always been a fan of the A5. I tend to put BMW/Audi/Merc in the same group however, 9 times out of 10 when someone is driving like a tool, they are in one of those 3, you can pretty much guarantee it. It's part of what puts me off, that & the higher price tags. My Dad actually got an A5 a couple of months ago, beautiful to drive, really is - it's effortless. Great looking thing as well but I won't compare it to the Mustang - it's just not the same thing.

This thread has got me thinking...I recall a visit to an Audi garage that kinda annoyed me at the time...

Girlfriend was looking for a new car, she liked the A1, so in we went to have a look. After a quick mooch around one of the examples they had out back we sat down with one of the sales staff to run through what kind of prices to expect. Bearing in mind this was a fairly basic spec we were looking at, it was pushing £20k. My reaction, a fair "that's quite a lot for that isn't it", knowing you can get a lot more for that kind of money from other brands. The guys response "yea but it has those 4 little rings on the front doesn't it". Not enough that he said that but the smug look on his face really said a lot to me about that brand and the kind of culture that goes with it.

Each to their own I know, but i'll take a Ford any day over the German stuff :ford:

That may have been me. My car looks very similar to the latest BMW!

Yes, that's why I can't stand Audi, especially A1s and TTs or Merc Smarts - just overpriced garbage! The TT is supposed to be a sports car but handles like a drunk on ice. If I see a Porsche 911, the previous Cayman, M2 or E90 M3 I have some respect, if I see a A1, TT or Smart I think what a prat.
