Has anyone powder coated their stock GT PP wheels? I am thinking of changing the color of mine, just wondering if anyone has done it or if their is a big process involved since they are already powder coated black.

Its pretty straight forward a good finisher will strip the wheel, dunk them to clean them of grease and particles and then theyll shoot them with power and cook them.

shouldnt be more then 100 per wheel.

Back when I had a Mazdaspeed3 there was a big discussion on the forums about the heating of a wheel after powdercoating would ruin the factory heat treatment and weaken the wheel

Thoughts?

The heat required for powder coat to cure is pretty low, I wouldn't think it would be a big deal. I know some here have powder coated.

And yeah I used standard auto paint and clear coat.

I documented it pretty well in my thread.

A wheel can get redone 3 times total after that we do not repowder any wheel for structural reasons.

So you have a few times you can refinish a single whee
