Since I've been looking at the S550 for over a year now I thought the black wheels looked really nice against a Magnetic body. Then when the Nickel painted version came out, I thought it looked nice but wasn't drawn to it as a have to have option. But the more I see it, the more it's growing on me.

Problem is, I haven't seen many magnetic body's with the PP nickel wheels.

Anyone have one with that combo? How do you like it and any regrets? Any pics?

Also, since both the black and nickel are paint rather than a bare metal finish, what's underneath? I'm thinking if it's shiny, the nickel would also hide any scrapes/wear a LOT better.

Thanks

I love my black PP wheels on my Silver GT, but for a darker color (other than Black), I think the nickel looks significantly better. It offers a nice contrast and I makes the paint look more vibrant.

Either one looks great, but when I had my sterling Gray GT and Ashen Gray SS, I liked a brighter wheel and thought a black did look AS good.

Black rims looks great on lighter colors or on an all black vehicle. I'd go with lighter if I had a color like Magnetic.

It all depends on preference. I am not a fan of black wheels, but they have their place.
As for wear the nickel will hide a lot. There are a lot of people that have posted threads about nicks and dings on the PP black wheels and it is noticeable.

I would vote for black but if you get the nickel and change your mind you can easily find a black set with almost brand new tires for 800-900 bucks. Not that easy to find the nickel set tho.

I liked the nickel on my DIB, but just wanted something different. Now they look good in my garage attic.

I like both. When I bought my car the only choice with PP, at least on the lot was black.

I was using a motorcycle spoke brush to clean them and put a couple of small scratches with the end of the brush. It's barely noticeable, except up close for the 2 minutes they stay clean. I since bought a brush with a soft end.

The front PP brakes put off a tremendous amount of dust and it's brown. Not sure how that would go on nickel wheels, it sucks on black. The wheels are dirty immediately. On black they look more dull than anything, but the brown tint is there.

The Nickel wheels are fairly bright for my taste. But as someone noted above, they are much rarer than the black PP wheels and you could always pick up a black set on the cheap.

Something else I'm curious about....

Is upgrading to the nickel a huge deal when it comes to deals/sales/etc.? In other words...say I look at a place like Koons and they have a base GT in magnetic with the BLACK performance wheels for $X...will upgrading to the nickel be a $100-ish add on or will it completely change the deal and be looked at as a totally different car/order/price?

Thanks

The base GT's aren't offered with the performance package wheels. You have to get the performance package to get those wheels, and the nickel luster wheels are an option for a little more cost. At least it was like that when I bought mine, they may have changed it.

That's what I meant.....a base GT w/ PP. In other words, NOT the premium.

Oh, okay. Sorry, I misunderstood. I have the base GT w/the Performance package, myself. Mine already had the nickel luster wheels on it.
