Have you tried a California Duster?
I've heard they can scratch/leave swirls on a car? If not I'll get one, it would save me a lot of time. My car is covered in leaves and dust now.

So far I've been using Meguiars Ultimate synthetic Hard Wax once a month w/ pretty good results. It's pricy ($20-25) but easy to apply and wax off by hand and helps keeps water spots at bay.

I also invested some $$$ for a great foam sprayer from Chemical Guys and is been worth its weight in gold. It's been key getting the car lubricated before a wash mitt touches the car. Best investment ever.

Haven't had to dive into compounds and polishes yet.
Haven't tried that wax yet but I have used the Meguiars liquid waxes, as well as Mother's. I mostly use Chemical Guys Butter Wax now since it's a lot easier to get on and wipe off. When it comes to compounds and polishes there are just as many if not more choices. It seems like the classics are Meguiars 105 compound and 205 polish which work great but leave some dust, so I recently switched over the Chemical guys Polish and Compound, as well as a bottle of their VSS which is a compound and polish in one for light swirls, it saves you a lot of times are the lighter imperfections. Years ago I bought a Porter Cable 7424xp which I was told is a great polisher for the price and almost impossible to mess up with, it's worked well. It's so hard keeping black S550's looking good. I'll wash mine and 2 hours later my buddy's Grabber blue GT which hasn't been washed in 2 weeks still looks cleaner.

My local detailer said they are ok as long as you gently run it across letting the the duster do the work. A lot of guys use it like a wash mitt using force which is a big no no. I personally prefer just keeping my black car waxed (1 a month). When it's dusty and I don't have time to wash it, I just put a garden hose to it (without a hose nozzle) and drive off and air dry the car. If your car is waxed, water alone would take out more than what any duster would.

This is hearsay of course. I never used a duster. Can't get over the thought of dragging a brush over a dry surface.

How do you like the Ceramic Pro? I am thinking about a coating to assist with dust, fingerprints etc on my DIB..
I love it! It's truly amazing. It's anti static properties and it's ability to shed water are like no other. Bird dropping and bugs come off right without scrubbing. I wash my car once a week, touchless washes only "foam cannon, pressure washer, electric leaf blower" and it stays looking pretty clean the entire week. I will do 2 bucket hand washes a couple times a year if I'm going to a show or something. You won't be disappointed.

awesome, thanks for the input! I am storing it for the winter and was going to look into it for spring.... I have a local detailer that deals in ceramic coatings. Cquartz, Modesta,... not sure about the ceramic pro product but I will ask....

7. Yes, Black is awesome when its new and clean.

8. Black is not awesome... b/c after a few months, the fine scratches & swirls start to show. Just too much maintenance for me. My 2014 GT was DIB and was a PITA to keep clean.

9. PP is worth it. Though I wish it came with optional 3.55 gears or 3.73 standard gears.

7-8. Lightning Blue is the best color....
When I saw the new color for 2017, Lightning Blue, I made up my mind about getting a new stang.
The color is rich and sexy... it looks like the blue that Ferrari uses.

My vents rattle too but I can't hear it over Pantera's "Cowboys from Hell"
I'm on a twelve foot ninja binge right now, but Pantera has covered a lot of squeaks and rattles for me over the years.

worst thing about black is the water spots
I have spent $250 on cleaning stuff a jet washer, but now take her to my detailer for $20 who washes her and waxes her, spends am hour on her, so after 6 months have no swirls
this is a pic taken last week in the wilds of Weymouth

Looks fantastic! I would love to be able to take my mustang over the the UK and drive on some of your fun roads over there! It would be like "Hidalgo" going over to the middle east for the great race :-)..... I just purchased a 2016 Deep Impact Blue... it is not black, but similar dark color... I love the color and have just decided that I am going to put the time in to keep her looking nice, but not obsess over it... I think if you wash it regularly and use a detailer spray and a few high quality microfiber rags you can keep any car looking reasonably nice... I try to think of my Stang as a horse.. horses get dirty.... cars are going to get dirty..even when she is not pristine I still look back and smile... just enjoy the ride and do the best you can... I have custom plates on order that will say HIDALGO... as a reminder that my Mustang is to be ridden....

yikes.. that is tight!... My daughter has been at school in Carnforth and is now in Austria... she has mentioned how driving can be a stressful experience.. I guess I was thinking more of the road that chris harris is driving on in his mustang review.. here is the link to it if you have not seen it... never get tired of watching this...
