Just wondered if all have the same "can't be arsed" attitude to selling mustangs ,registered my interest in the new mustang when it was first announced and was told they would make contact when they had dates but they didn't ,so when first cars arrived I contacted them again but local dealers GK had been taken over by PERRY'S so again was told someone would contact me but no contact again so I looked into getting a import, I now have a V6 auto COMPETION Orange.
So last month thought I would try again and get a test drive after several attempts managed to get a booking anyway made my way to dealers and on way there they contacted me to say they had to cancel mustang needed software update so couldn't do test drive .
So I tried again the next week after 4 calls finally rung me back and rebooked another test drive for Thursday 25th Aug at 10.00 only to turn up and no one knew who had booked it only they had sold that car, so some searching in reception diary they found who had arranged it Gary but guess what he was now busy.
So spoke to manager and told him how pi$$ed I was about all this he asked if I could wait while they did a PDI on a other car ,so I went out on a test drive with the salesperson from Internet sales, when we returned me and the wife were just left there standing outside so after about 10 mins went and saw manager again to discuss a new car and what he would give me partex .
We left with dealer going to get back to me with a price on my in the next day or so that 2 weeks a go needless to say I'll look elsewhere and hope they are a bit more customer friendly.

You are not on your own there! I had exactly the same experience. Said I wanted to place an order today and had the deposit ready and they never got back to me! Anyone would think that they didn't want to sell mustangs?! Now finding another dealer as customer service is important when parting with a fair wedge of money!

My mate has driven mine a few times, and now fancies one himself.....spotted a race red, and triple yellow at a dealers, so rang to arrange a viewing, test drive etc...(he is a cash buyer, with money ready to spend)

No one got back to him:(:gossip::rant:

Can't complain too much about mine. Initial contact through email resulted in a call back and lengthy chat. Pitched up at dealership a few days later and paid the deposit. GOT A RECEIPT  and SOME SORT OF ORDER FORM :eek: (not proper Mustang order form as they weren't officially taking orders at that time). Got periodic updates throughout the wait - not enough to make me comfortable, but updates nonetheless. Car was immaculate on collection as testified by my detailer and have had no cause to contact dealer since. Similarly he's clearly had no cause to contact me.
I don't feel loved, but I can't say it was as bad as some, looking back on it :D
Also a cash buyer which didn't seem to piss them off too much.

Edinburgh Peoples Ford.

They make next to no money on them (£500 a go on the first orders I was told) and if you don't need finance they'll make nothing at all. Ford aren't unusual. Audi treated me the same. Now if you want a Fiesta on finance...............

To be fair to Ford having a real issue with a BMW dealer at the moment (won't bore you with the details), so I guess it's not just Ford dealers.

I've had a lot of help and enthusiasm from Think Ford Guildford and I didn't buy my car there. Trust Ford in Epsom also come recommended (and they are actually owned by Ford).

Trust Ford Store in Barnsley have been great with me so far ordering wise, Donna there as always got back to me and today without prompting contacted me to inform the car had been built and provided me with the VIN.

To be honest I think I've been lucky with some of the comments on here, and dealers do vary vastly in service and that's by no means limited to Ford, I've had dreadful and superb service from two different BMW dealership for instance.

Don't even get me started.

No person is the same, no dealer is the same.

Which is somewhat a disadvantage for Ford; as you should be able to walk into any Ford store and get the same quality of service, professionalism etc as you do in any other Ford dealership.

Guess we got you started ;)

I've always hated buying used cars (with the exception of one family dealership in Aberdeen) but expected buying a new car to be different. It was, but not greatly. The launch event in Edinburgh was cool though. Got to see the Guard/Saddle car, my first experience in the UK, and they were in no rush to get rid of us. I find it disappointing that some dealerships don't even have the decency to return buyers calls. I find it bizarre that they stay in business with that attitude. Clearly some people dont mind being treated like sh*te when they're buying a Fiesta. I wouldnt be back. The more I read, the luckier I consider I was...

Sadly, this is endemic in the industry - not just Ford.

Alas, dealers have high staff churn and they all just want to make max commission. Selling 10 used Fiestas will make them more money than a Mustang. Dealers (in the main) are all about profit. Ironically the few high flyers are the ones who backup sales with service, but getting the others out of the volume vs service mindset is an uphill struggle.

Trust me - I've spent the last 15 years trying to change this culture and it's still a massive task.

Nail and head. It's tantamount to working in a mobile phone shop. Either the sales guys are young, enthusiastic - but useless, or old, experienced but jaded. It's a tough battle
