Wondering if anyone has had my same issues as me, I have the 350 manifold and used to have the MMR adapter with the stock throttle body and the car drove fine but I recently put the 350 TB on to kinda complete the set up and the car just doesn't drive that well anymore. Anything above 4K Rpms the car runs amazing but it's between 1-4K Rpms that it drives terrible it's surging, bucking, hesitating and at times seems like it doesn't really wanna move. I was told that I would get a little bit of this with the 350TB which was okay because it's a weekend/race car but the thing is just horrible to drive about town way worse than I thought it would be. Just seeing if anyone else had this issuie it's Lund tuned as well.:frusty: Thanks guys!

It's a very common issue with email tuners. It is well covered on this forum if you search around a bit.

There are several guys that I read about having your issues when installing the GT350 87mm TB. My 350 intake will be going on next month and it was suggested to me to keep the stock 80mm TB. Not saying it's impossible to be dialed in, but Lund and my performance/dyno shop said to keep the 80mm TB. I had already planned on doing that before they told me because of what I read about guys having the issues. Plus, I really don't know if there's much of a difference performance-wise with the 87mm?

Curious how ford is going to solve this issue with their power pack 3. I really want to go for the whole package but if there is a issue that lund can't solve then I'll probably stick with the stock tb. Also would like to know if there is any gains going with the 350 tb

Ford tune will be fine!

If you have this setup now, get a tune from JDM as they have zero surging with this setup.

The issue with the surging is getting the TB to drive smoothly at all different cam angles. It takes a significant amount of time to get dialed in. Self-tuners have already conquered it. I'm POSITIVE Ford has also. They know the strategy in the tuning better than Lund could ever wet dream about.

It just takes a lot of time and a lot of trial and error to get it dialed in. And not all cars will be the same. It is easier at this point for Lund, and other tuners, to just have people run the stock TB.instead of trying to make it drive perfectly I'm not downing Lund, it just takes a tooon of time to get dialed in.

There is a power difference. It's not huge, but there is a difference.

So what do you think? Is it worth the cost to go with the 87mm and get a custom tune versus the 80mm and emailed tune? I guess how much it's worth it is subjective to each individual, depending on how much HP is there to gain.

It's all in the tune as others have said. Some tuners have figured it out as has ford. It just takes time and some email tuners aren't willing to take it.

My local tuner here in the Atlanta area has no issues with the GT350 TB and their tunes either. As others have mentioned, it takes time and lots of it to get it dialed in.

Yeah I'm hopping we can get it worked out since it sounds like a few of you don't have any issues with it. I've seen guys dyno 7-12hp higher with the 87mm TB so thats what sold me on trying it out.

Not true. Dyno tuned at JDM and mine still surges. Been waiting for a few weeks for a call back to schedule a time to bring it back. it needs to get dialed in more.

well considering the Ford Performance power pack has the GT350 TB included, I'm sure it just needs more mastery from the major players.

Exactly and I think it's sort of sad that some say it's worthless in an effort to sway people from using it due to a possible inability to tune it.

Yeah I think if someone can get it dailed in there's definitely gains to be had from it.
