Wind Deflector for Convertible

Have never started a thread before, and searched first to check if this topic was on here but seems not.
We have two convertibles currently in our stable and use a wind deflector/blocker on each - makes for a less turbulent journey with the top down (I have long hair) and have just ordered a wind deflector for the new Pony. Jut thought I would share that these are not available to purchase here in Australia yet, and you can get one which works with the Lightbar that has LED lights on a Mustang logo, but this requires batteries/wiring and I was not interested in messing about with that, so I ordered a plain one. Driving a few in the States I found I needed to have the windows up if at speed, to stop my hat blowing off (hat is essential safety equipment in a convertible due to lack of... ahem... scalp protection). Does the rear screen solve that sort of issue?

Definitely will solve the hat blowing away issue. Being in WA, such hot summers, we can actually have the top down and the aircon on and it circulates really well - true story. Don't need the windows up to keep the hat on with this. On that link I put up, down the page is a short video of how to install but then you will see footage of two people testing it out, with it pushed down their hair blowing over into their faces, then they pop the wind deflector up and it all calms down.

I have a wind deflector from Love The Drive and can only say good things about it. Easy in, easy out, no turbulence for my wife's hair anymore

Car is finally here and I installed the Love the Drive wind deflector at last. Now have to wait for a dry day (rains started here this week) to try it out.

Congrats! It works best when you put both windows up, too. That way you "cocoon" yourself and keep out as much wind as possible.

As for the bright blue sticker, I took that off after leaving the car in the sun for a while. I like the clean look without the sticker on it better.

I found with all windows up there is very little wind entry to the front seats, looked at the screen idea but truly dont think it is needed

Yes Sese, windows up helps. Tried it out yesterday and was happy with the decrease in wind blowing my hair around. I agree Ozengine, there isn't that much wind at low speed but we use the freeway a lot. We have two little dogs that will be happy to be in the back under this too. Had a wind blocker in our Volvo convertible and found it great. Even in the extreme summer heat, we've used the air con with the blocker up and sounds crazy but gives a comfortable ride as the air con circulates around you and you get more use of the top down days.

Hi, this deflector looks good and from what I can see, work well. Having done a couple of longer road trips now (withe the roof down) I am thinking it is the way to go. Did you buy it locally (from the Aus distributor) or import it directly from Love the Ride in the US? Cheers.

Is this deflector made out of glass?

IMO the deflector would have looked much better without that ugly black surround. A polished edge would have been more stylish.

The positioning does not allow for rear passengers, if they can fit. It should have been mounted behind the rear seats. Deflectors are effective with the windows completely up.

Hi Russ. Bought direct from Love The Ride. It works well, can be unclipped and put in its carry bag in the boot for when you have rear passengers. (Folds up). Yeahnah - I prefer the mesh kind (have had similar on 2 other convertibles) rather than the plastic one as the mesh type folds up as well as let's some air still flow. We put our two little dogs on the back seats and they are more than happy. It is positioned behind the front seats - slides into the seat belt slots without interfering with them and for extra security is anchored into the child restraint/seat anchor points - can unclip top part of the straps and leave the rest neatly tucked and clipped into anchor points for next use. Very neat and well designed, well made product. Can flip it down too while driving if you want more air circulating - and you can leave it in place with roof up. It is metal frame covered in leather type fabric with mesh screening plus all metal brackets of the frame (parts that slide into slots on car) have silicone rubber coating on to prevent any chafing of car surface.

the one from LoveTheDrive is kick-ass. I have it on my vert. I reused the one from my '13 GT, and changed the brackets so it would work.

That would be cheaper Russ, as I paid $435US plus $200 for FedEx delivery - got here in 5 days because at the time there was no local distributor and the guy (Alan?) they were in talks with to become a local distributor said it would be a wait of over 2 mths before he got any stock in. When you get it, have a look at the Youtube video on how to install it, as first time I was straightening out the bigger front brackets and this didn't allow it to mover back far enough for the rear brackets to sit comfortably in place on the car. The video is excellent - screen shot part of it to zoom in when I was installing first time. Love the Drive even offered to have it put in the boot of the car at the dock in Baltimore to save shipping, but that would not have been possible anyway.
