Don't do it. You'll be disappointed.
The software is not 100%. Sync. Sound very British. The latest update solved the time and temp issues. But left others. Out of two units I personally installed, Each had different issues.
My touch screen climate controls worked, yet the manual didn't. Other unit was complete opposite. There is a thread and video around here somewhere with this unit. Again, we've been there, done that... :frusty:
Thank you for informing me.

So it's normal for so many people to have to pull fuses, disconnect the battery etc just to got the radio to work. Got it.

My 2015 Mazda 6 works 100% perfectly. My wife and I bought it in 2014 and it's had absolutely zero problems.

I bought my Mustang late last year and it's been back to the dealer at this point I believe 7 times, and I still have to pull fuses/disconnect the battery every month because Sync forgets how to do anything.

Is there any update on this?
Also, do we owners of base radio systems have any other options? I have the GT350 track pack and want to get rid of the stock radio with a larger navigation unit.
From what I understand, there is no aftermarket dash kit from Metra/Scosche available yet.
For a car as often-modified as the Mustang, it seems weird to me that we base-radio people have no better option...

Im curious to know how much room is behind the stock radio..... would a double din radio even fit, perhaps a shallow mount like the alpine and parrot? Im pretty sure there is a plug and play harness for Sync 3 out there to keep everything kosher with the factory stuff.

Can anyone confirm that there is in fact a way to get the Sync3 connected to the base radios? That would be a perfectly viable option to me as well.

It is doable. OEMRadio has a thread about it somewhere. $1400-$1800 or so was the cost to do SYNC 3.

You don't have to change anything for Sync 3.. as long as it is programmed properly.. I have 3 Non Nav Sync 3 units currently.. Total units.. with new screen and APIM

I think you misunderstood what I was getting at, for instance the Dodge's have Uconnect and there are interfaces out there that allow you to install aftermarket radios yet still retain the Uconnect bluetooth functionality.

There probably is a way to do it.. I think the Datalink maestro could be used to do that.. you would have to make a custom dash kit..

exactly. I could fab up a dash kit using the existing MFT bezel, but that is only if datalink maestro will interface with Sync 3 and there is actually enough room behind the factory radio area to fit a double din. If thats the case then Ill buy a 300A with PP and Recaros vs springing for a 400A and not getting the PP/Recaros.

Sync 3 is only if you have the 8 inch touchscreen .. if you do not have the 8 inch touch screen then there is no sync 3..

My guess you can use the F150 coding on the maestro for it to work in the mustang..
