I am looking at purchasing a Borla Catback Touring Exhaust . I really like the sound of this ones as its give you a real deep tone no rasp . http://www.americanmuscle.com/borla-touring-catback-2015gt.html . Juist click the sound link .

However the same exhaust by ford Racing seems to give a real raspy sound http://www.cjponyparts.com/ford-rac...l-with-4-black-tips-gt-2015-2016/p/M5200M8TB/

I am a little confused are the the sound clips just different or are these two near same exhausts just have different sounds ?

The AM exhaust has a resonator so little rasp, whereas the ponyparts one uses an x pipe, there is a huge difference in sound, they are not similar.

So exhaust systems with resonators will have deeper tones that make sense .

Anyone recommend any other exhaust systems that have the deeper tones and little rasp ?

They will be slightly different, a lot of people think the Ford Racing Sport (by borla) is the same as the Borla S Type, they use to be the same sound/tone/loudness a few years back but then Borla tweeked it a little and you can tell the difference, Bill from CJPony even mentions it in one of his fitment videos and if anyone can tell it'll for sure be him, I'd say this will be the same as the touring system. Also they've now started doing the Borla Touring with a mini resonator for the EU, i'm sure again this will be slighty less in the loud department than the other Touring system which has the H pipe (might be X pipe, can't remember)

I spent most of the wait for the car to arrive (over a year) researching, looking at vids etc
And changed my mind many times!
My main criteria was .. Deep Deep Tone, No Rasp and little or no drone...
X pipe I ruled out = too raspy
H pipe .. Great but can be too loud therefore likely to drone
Stock resonator works like an H pipe but it also removes some high frequency sound so can help to keep the tone deep.
That left me with the choice of Axle Backs .. Yes you do have to cut the pipe but look at some vids it's so easy and you could easily use a joiner to re connect the stock pipe if necessary!
So which axle back .. I did not like the ones that have a separate trim tail pipe! I also liked the idea of the chrome tail pipe being as big as possible! And one manufacture uses a different type of insulation material in the muffler/silencer which some say also helps with the deep tone!!
Anyway that's my story with the exhaust hope it helps! But if you want as loud and deep but don't mind drone there is one combination that I look at, let me know if you want details?

Try Stainless Works and Corsa Sport, both are very good and have videos on this forum.

Was also going to suggest Stainless Works, I created a thread on it not long ago and have sound clips. There is little to no drone, it's got a deep sound to it too!

Sounds like an axle back is what I am after if you could send me details on the one you know of ? I did look at the magna flow one and it sounds good.

The problem with most vids is that the sound is captured with the in camera mic and, with the best will in the world, this is not going to give the best representation of tone. Bass is often where these type of mics suffer, especially when they are close to the source of the sound. You only have to listen to the stock exhaust sound clips to appreciate this. They vary widely from video to video and I think (hope) a lot of the 'rasp' heard on YouTube videos of a lot of exhausts is down to this. I'm considering an upgraded exhaust and absolutely do not want any rasp, especially if I've had to cut the stock exhaust to fit axle backs. I'm hoping to get to a meet somewhere and hear a few in the flesh.

If I where fitting the whole exhaust I would fit a MRT H pipe and probably the Magnaflow Street rather than the competition to keep the noise down!

I have the Magnaflow Competition Axle Back louder than the street but as the stock resonator is still there it keeps the noise down!

Some good vids on cj pony parts...

Hi,

The Magnaflow Competition and Borla S-Type or ATAK Axle Back are all great sounding systems.

We currently have Magnaflow systems in stock and a 10% discount can be applied with code: MUSTANGCLUB

http://nemesisukshop.com/products/f...ck-exhaust-magnaflow-19103-competition-series

We should also have Borla systems coming into stock around June.

Should you have any questions or want to give us a call I will be happy to help.

Cheers Guy

Thanks for this - helpful. I did hear though that the Magnaflow Competition Axle Back gives a drone. Not true? Or only when in conjunction with a X pipe?

Really like the deep sound in the second vid, but couldn't live with that drone at ~2000rpm, that would do my head in...
