While Ridetech was working on the car this past week they noticed the front rotors felt especially heavy so they weighed them. 33+lbs! Has anyone swapped front rotors, and if you did do you know the weights on them?

Yeah, I'm hoping for a reasonably priced 2-piece replacement with an aluminum hat. In the "What things weigh thread" there's a list of all the component weights. The Brembo's calipers are lighter but the rotors add that back in and then some over the base brakes.

Ap racing and stoptech both offer two piece rotors both at $1500. Saves ten pounds per rotor
That sounds almost reasonable with good weight savings. I'll check these out. Thanks.

Not sure, but I found them new for $1000 - $1300 a set. Trying to find some weights.
Audi R8 front rotors weight 24.4lbs and here in the UK a front pair from Audi is only ÂŁ480 from ebay brand new or ÂŁ560 from the dealership.

If they fit it makes them a far cheaper option than AP and they look better as well with the drilled holes and save 9lbs per rotor. :)

Audi Bolt pattern is 5x112. I don't think that's gonna work.

carbons are really overrated for daily, mushy feel, require heat, lots of noises. BMW M4 owners with the CCB have a lot of complaints. If you ding/chip the rotor while doing work on it, they are ruined. Good quality 2 piece rotors are much more durable and easier to live with.

Yea, not interested in carbon, just a good two piece. I'd love to cut the 40lbs of unsprung weight most of all.

Wow the rotor weight plus my wheel/tire weight. Now I understand why I never have to touch the gas entering the long exit ramps on parkways around here.

2x 9lbs is 18lbs buddy. ;)

I doubt there is as much saving on the rear, maybe around 5lbs.

Yes the Audi is 5x112 vs our 5x114.3 but to change 5x112 to 5x114.3 on the rotor is not impossible, just need to be creative with a drill. As long as centre bore of our rotors and R8 rotors is the same this could work.

I am tempted to try and find a knackered R8 rotor to do a test fit because if these fit they are half the price of the AP's.

Found fronts at 19.5lbs, or 14lbs a wheel in the what things weigh thread, so likely at least 40lbs counting the rears.
