Guys -

First post here. Have really enjoyed the forum. I have a '16 GT with a Roush Phase 1 charger. Dealer installed. Fast enough for me as a daily driver. For now...

Working on getting power down and driveability. I made a mistake choosing a PP car with 3.73 gears. It's a bit steep for daily driving in bad traffic. And trying to have a little fun, 1st and 2nd are completely useless.

I've read here about many making the change to 3.31's and are much happier. I'm ready, I've got a shop ready, but I can't find the parts.

Searching for this - (M-4209-88331A) or the description from the fordperformance catalog, but changing the last digits to a 31 (Ford Racing Mustang GT 8.8-Inch IRS Ring Gear and Pinion Set - 3.31)
I get nothing. I called a couple of vendors, CJ and American Muscle and they don't have.

So, for those here that have made the switch, where'd you get your parts?!

Thanks,
Patrick

They are factory Ford gears not Ford racing. Your dealer can order them or ask Benny from levittownfordsupercebtet.com

Pick up Whipple's hand held it will allow you to change the gear size in your BCM and you'll be good to go.

Another option it buying a new pumpkin that has the 3.31 gears installed (Ford part number S.271.C.) with a Traction-Lok diff, it maybe a cheaper option and you will still have your 3.73 pumpkin intact and can swap back in someday or sell it. You will still need the Whipple took to program the BCM.

If interested in this option PM caustin69 for more info.

I would gp with this option and getting a whipple flare device. Then sale your 3.73 torsen pumpkin.

And alot cheaper to install. Good suggestion. PM sent to recommended member. Thanks guys. Whipple deal seems like a racket for a one time use though.

I also use my Whipple flash tool for changing tire sizes and of course all the Whipple tune updates.

Your dealer can also make the change to the BCM.

I didn't even check with the dealer. I would much rather pay $275 for the whipple flare than ever go to the dealer lol. I use mine a lot since I have 2 sets of rear tires. The crank relearn helped too after I changed the clutch.

If you get the strictly gear/tire size changing version I believe it's a little cheaper than the one for tuning.
