When I got a quote off of Direct Line about my Daughters car, the conversation turned to my plans.
Cut a long story short, I told him the basics & he asked again the value. Again I told him 36k & he said "but you said it was new?".
Went around & around on this subject & took ages for him to believe that a new 5.0L Mustang (not imported) wasn't 75k or more.

Was quite funny really. He ended the conversation that he'd go home after shift & look up the 'new Ford Mustang'........ he knew nothing about it.

Was about 2 weeks ago!

Haha, i expect that to happen a lot, even my boss at work's response was 'Your parents spoil you' and it was a swift 'No, im just good with money' 'How much is it? 60-80k?' me: 'No total im putting in shouldnt be more than 35k in the first year (mods included)' Shocks a lot of people! Especially as i'm 21 :eyebulge::cool:

I'm two 21 year olds...and then some ;)
Same. Feel like it as well 70% of the time. Expecting that to drop considerably when I get my car :headbang:

:faint: Think that's the lowest we've heard. Still can't believe they're quoting that low...

To be fair; put the Mrs on it cause we still live in a sexist world; only do 4k a year; own another car (the Wifes); parked on drive in safe(ish?) Town.

I will also declare the £0.49p that I couldn't be bothered to type

& £600 excess as well

I'll take that

Yes, the best quote previously was me(9 year NDC)
Direct Line
£350 excess £157.68

I did finally insure with Direct Line but paid a more with £0 excess £175.20 and then added on spouse, protected and legal and the final price was £20.00 less then my recent Focus renewal (same terms).

The above includes a bit of a fudge because for the Mustang I actually transferred a partial NCD for being a named driver on my wife's car.

Fortunately my son was uninsurable with Direct Line as he is under 25.

I was annoyed that I had to pay for both my wife and my spouse.

My other car is with Privilege and as a cheap quoter I was amazed how much knowledge the girl on the phone had about the Mustang.

Probably spends too much time on here like us, they seem to be a decent mob from what i've gathered so far though i think DL is the choice due to the named driver ncb you can build

Car due soon so thinking about some mods!
How did your mods affect your insurance premium?
Particularly exhaust?

Significantly, going by the screenscrapers, however I haven't actually spoken to anyone yet so will leave it to those who have got their cars to advise.

My quotes went from around £165 bone stock to £400-£500 with mods. The first mod was a big jump then relatively small increments per additional mod.

Signed up for the Ford 7 day insurance via the dealer to make life easier for dealer to register etc when collecting next week,

When going through the details with the insurance company was told mustang didn't come as a 2.3 lit ! and 2.00lit was nearest !
and it was a diesel only !

When proceeding to tell them their error of their ways, Young lady said -

"oh ! I've been booking them as diesel anyway" (with not a care in the world)

The phrase monkey and peanuts comes to mind

Is that the ford insurance your talking about. God forbid you need to make a claim then! If your modding your better of going though independents rather than meerkat. Think A plan and Adrian flux have a good rep with modified insurance. A lot of these companies want proof that you have owned another 'performance car"

Just phoned direct line to finalise insurance for the arrival next month, they are quoting a 6k temp astra 61 plate at around £660. When we change to the v8 payments go down by £20 pcm, about £30k of a difference in car value, if anything was expecting it to go up by a margin
