and we certainly don't want to get to a situation where the lower grille is bigger than the top one
Just a different style. A larger upper is more shark-like, while a larger lower draws the attention down and makes it look sleeker and lower to the ground.

Some cars look great with larger lower openings.

Now we just need an amalgam of the two headlamps. Keep the 3 gills from today, but blended with the outer section of the Fusion ones you used
I've been trying to get rid of those 3 gills since my first 'chops :D
I like long, wide lines to emphasize the width.

Have to get back to work -- will try and do updates later.

Haha.....I know. This was one of my favourites...... :hail:

As for the gills......they were a brilliant re-interpretation of the original headlamp gills back in '65. However, I also loved the treatment Ford used on the '13/'14 with the 2 horizontal bars echoing the gills in the '70MY. Perhaps something along those lines again? :)

Hmm, with a little tweak to the upper grille, it works on the current cars as well.
My fav by far. I like the current lights much better than your first rendering.

I also like this grill much better..the first one looks so much like 2017 Fusion.

Thanks for the pics. Great job.

It is hard to imagine much of a change...because I like it so much.

The horizontal bars on the headlights are making it look like a charger.

Looks good already, they shouldnt change the headlights. What about bringing back the Mach 1?

nice chop, don't like that though. reminds me a lot of the camaro, and it doesn't look very aggressive imo

A tweak to the headlamps would be good. For me, it's the reflector that's a bit too busy. It'll be interesting to see what they come up with.

A Mach 1 would be most welcome :headbang:

With the 2018 refresh looming, I had to see if I could piece together some Ford design DNA and come up with a refreshed 2018 front/rocker combo.

I was actually quite surprised it came out as well as it did as I was dreading the new grille on the Mustang. However, when mixed with some big-brother influences, I think it could work very well.

This is a relatively quick chop, and I might polish it up later, but it gets the point across and I think looks quite good.

Anyone have a line into Ford's design team? :D

Like this one much better, more "Mustang" to me. Still the lower grill is a bit big, and expect the hood to be a little different as well. As much as I love the headlights today, that is one of the very easy ways to differentiate different model years so I expect they will change somewhat.
