Mustang of the Moment

MOTM: Trans Am Road Racer Build

This Mustang of the Moment goes to M6G member Rob Bodle and his S550 Mustang road race car build.

It’s not every day you get to see a salvaged vehicle turned into a race car for the Trans Am series but Rob, who is a driver at Go Trans Am Racing, purchased this performance package 2015 Mustang GT with that very goal in mind.

In its former life this S550 Mustang sustained structural damage to the front end and hood. Right after it was purchased in a Buy It Now salvaged title sale on Copart it was shipped to Grumpy’s in Shakopee, Minnesota where it received a Watson Racing cage. Thereafter, it was shipped back to the east coast for the finishing assembly to be done by Rob Nowland in Annapolis, Maryland.

It is here that this road racer has received a host of Steeda suspension bits including sway bar, bump steer kits, toe links, camber arms and so forth.

Other sourced parts include a Dewitt radiator, light weight one-piece driveshaft sent by Watson Racing, CorteX Racing dampers, and a Tremec TR-6060 transmission replacing the stock Getrag MT-82.

See the full build journal in the forums and stay tuned as Rob and company prepare for their first race on March 6 at Sebring International Raceway.
