With the close of the year, the final U.S. sales figures have been tallied and the S550 Mustang was the runaway winner for total pony car sales among its main competitors.
Ford Motor Company sold 8,742 Mustangs in December 2015 which brought the total U.S. sales for the year to 122,349 — outselling the Chevrolet Camaro by 44,847 units (57,9%) and the Dodge Challenger by 55,984 (84.4%) in 2015.
The 122,349 figure bests last year’s Mustang sales of 82,635 by 48.1%, or 39,714 units and represents the first time since 2007 that the Mustang has surpassed the six-figure sales mark.
