Today marked the official production launch of the right-hand drive S550 Mustang at Ford’s Flat Rock Assembly Plant.
Ford kicked off the event in the midst of news that the 2015 Mustang is the top-selling sports so far in 2015, with 76,124 globally registered vehicles for the first six months of the year, representing a 56-percent increase from the same period last year.
With production of right-hand drive Mustangs underway, that number is expected to increase significantly. The S550 Mustang is available to drivers in more than 100 markets around the world, including more than 25 right-hand drive regions.
Global orders have been extremely robust at the outset. Almost 2,000 new Mustangs have been ordered in the United Kingdom since January 2015 with the first deliveries expected in November. Australian buyers have had an even stronger showing of interest for the S550, with nearly 3,000 orders already received in Oz.
