This week on Motor Trend’s Ignition, Carlos Lagos and Randy Pobst discuss and evaluate the 2015 Mustang EcoBoost model.
Motor Trend put the new 4-cylinder turbo Mustang through its paces in its instrumented testing and a visit to Universal Technical Institute’s dynamometer where it achieved peak rear wheel numbers of 279 horsepower and 295 lb-ft torque, with torque remaining above 290 lb-ft for four of the five runs.
Among the highlights of Motor Trend’s hot lap at Willow Springs, Randy Pobst beamed about the S550 Mustang’s stiffer chassis.
“The body structure is one of the areas where the Mustang is way better than it was last year. I can feel it. I can feel it on the road and I feel it here on the track. Very strong body structure. It gives the suspension something better to hang on to”
The new EcoBoost Mustang ran a time of 1:27:85, a little over 2 seconds behind that of the 2013 Mustang GT track pack.
