2019 GT500 Mustang Leaked Materials Confirm 5.2L Supercharged Predator V8 Engine, Larger Brakes

We may have just seen the first documents and images confirming the supercharged 5.2-liter 2019 GT500 “Predator” engine posted on our forums by M6G member Super Werty, along with confirmation that the next top-dog S550 Mustang will wear larger brakes and wheels than the soon-to-be GT350 little brother.

This document, entitled “2020 MY North America Vehicle Program – Engine Oil Requirements” with a footnote inscription that reads: “2020 MY Oil Charts” “Updated 10/13/17” confirms information we’ve been reporting for over a year now — that the next GT500 engine, nicknamed “Predator” will feature an Eaton-supercharged cross-plane version of Ford’s vaunted 5.2L engine, and one that would require 5W50 oil.

Another image posted by Mustang6G member dwalker purportedly shows the next GT500’s brakes, which our sources told us earlier this year are massive true 2-piece brake rotors, larger than that of the GT350 and consistent with spy photos showing 20-inch wheels and massive tires (315 wide at the rear).

As we’ve reported, expect the GT500 to feature a dual clutch transmission derived from the Ford GT’s 7-speed DCT and be packed to the brim with power (we’ve heard potentially over 800hp).

According to the 2020 model-year engine oil requirements document, the 2019+ Shelby GT500 will exist alongside the 2020 Shelby GT350, so Ford fans rejoice — the S550 lineup is going to be an absolute beast in the coming years.
