Ugh...total suckage. My heart sank when I saw that. Good luck with the repair. Hopefully, it will be back to normal soon.

Damn that blows. Life is annoying sometimes. Luckily when its ONLY the roof skin, the repair isn't as expensive as you'd think. Different car, but many years ago I had a nice crease in my roof skin and it was replaced at the cost of $2500.

Silver lining here as well, these cars are prone to the corners of the roof skin and pillars settling/cracking and leaving potential water ingress points. Now this will all be reglued and fresh.

Ugh thatā€™s brutal op and I feel your pain. Not the same but similar my car got hit with golf ball sized hail 3 weeks ago and it was a mess. I just got it back 2 days ago looks perfect even though there was just under 7k damage.
All that to say this too shall pass and all will be right soon.

Crap! Can this be repaired? Remove headliner and push upward?

Man that sucks. I have the same racks, but I had them turned upsidedown from your picture, the angle leg is up, holding everything in.
I looked at your picture again. Tote fell from the top, flipping the rack would not have prevented that. Some type of easily removable barrier like a cargo net as mentioned would have worked, but that doesnt help you now.

Ugh! Beerchamp, sorry to see this. Hope if gets fixed back to 'normal' with minimal changes.

I know for a fact that I've been very lucky and have dodged hood/roof/trunk dents.
I'm sure my day is coming too.
Guessing comprehensive insurance would cover it if it's real expensive to fix. Good luck

What the hell, if the roof is coming off anyway, go for a Targa conversion.

Sorry man, seems like this type of thing could happen to most of us in some way or another.

You'll get it fixed and continue to enjoy the car, good luck.

That really sucks. I have stuff on a rack above (not directly above but next to it up high) my ZL1. Also just this morning I saw a car with a dented roof parked near my ZL1 (I can see it from the 2nd story of my gym) and thought if that happened to mine Iā€™d probably try to replace it with a CF roof. Save ~8 lbs up high and would look cool. As long as insurance would cover the labor.

But your post has motivated me to make sure nothing that falls off my rack will ruin the car. Iā€™ll be doing that today when I get home.

Ok, I'm old and fat, but I did talk my wife to get in and do that!
The roof did pop up 90%, so much better that I'm not too embarrassed to drive it.
I'm going to look into a 'dentpro' specialist before I take it to a body shop for a full roof skin.
I'll try to get new pics up today.

That actually doesnā€™t look too bad. Will curious what it looks likes when your PDR guy gets done with it. Polish out the scratches and hopefully it looks good as new
