I'm currently thinking hard on this decision also. I have not been able to track my current car and don't see it happening like I was hoping. As a daily, the RS does not exactly shine as I knew it would not but figured some track days would make up for it.

I've always missed my 2011 GT Premium and this time around am even thinking a convertible.

So I'm looking at either a 2017 GT Ruby Red Convertible with CA package (like the looks) or possibly a 2018 in Crimson/Ruby (depending on how they look in person) with active exhaust and 401a.

Don't see where a convertible would need the Magneride especially since it requires the performance pack also.

On the fence currently on the manual or 10 speed auto also. I've never seen an auto truly replace a manual but as a cruiser kind of car seems the auto might fit best.

Obviously the 2017s will have better price incentives.

Myne was fairly simple: California Special (CS). CS package is no longer offered in the 2018s and that was the deciding factor.

Realizing that 2018s are about $5K MORE than what I paid for my 2017 is just an icing on the coke, though I wish my car had quad exhaust. Really digging the '18 quad exhaust and wonder what the cost would be to upgrade.

After owning my 2017 for 5 months, I'm still very happy I got it. I did get to see the 2018 in person. It's alright, but I think I still like the looks and the tail lights of the 2017.

One of the biggest reasons to get a 2017? MSRP of $44,370 and I paid $36900. Loaded up model with Nav, premier trim, 401A, enhanced security. I don't see a deal like that happening any time soon for a 2018. Plus, this was a complete custom order exactly how I wanted it.

In reality you can do coke without icing and get the same effect.

My thoughts exactly thats why I bought a 2017. To date I don't regret my decision. :D

That disgusting engine cover on the '18 alone makes me not regret buying a '17 now.

They did modify the engine cover "slightly" compared to the v1.0 release of the 2018:

It's a small improvement - but I agree that the pre-18 cover looks better.

My guess is that the wider sides on the new cover are there to hide the fuel rails needed for the injectors.

To me that engine bay looks like crap. It makes the intake tube looks REALLY under designed by comparison too. It looks like a part from 1996 that's just be carried over. Same for the reservoir there. It just looks like a carry over part that just kinda fit so they used it.

I agree, it won't stop me buying one, but all Ford engine bays seem to be scabby looking. It's as though they go out of their way to make them look botched-up and offensive to the eye.
It's not just Ford. have you seen under the hood of the new 1.5T Hondas? That is a total mess of hoses and wires.

I miss the days in the 90's when an engine bay was rather clean and actually looked like they put time into how it looked under the hood.

while checking out my dealers incoming 18's (and impatiently waiting for mine to be picked up and built), I see a 17 GT Roush S2 on their lot for 8k off prenegotiations .. I have to imagine things like hat encourage folks to buy a 17 instead of waiting :). I know I am finding it quite tempting.

I love the look of the 17s. I thought for the money, it was a great buy. It always gave me a reason to be happy when driving it. Unfortunately, lost her...but I'd still probably take a 17 over an 18.

Absolutely will not buy a 17. I see it as an inferior car. The 18 has a new motor, and the virtual screen. Time for the 21st century. Just an extry horsepower helps, even with the shitty skinny tires, oh well, deal with that later. Would not buy a 17, who would? Unless they don't have the money.

I'm surprised no reviews have surfaced for the 18, at least to my recollection. I'd be curious about all the improvements to the car.

I could have delayed my 17 order for an 18 but when i saw the front of the 18 i stuck with the 17. Although i agree, mechanically the 18 is an improvement but not enough for me as I don't care about digital screen, 10 speed or magneride. But then the 22 will be an improvement over the 18 but with hopefully improved styling.

Ford needs to increase the deals on the 17s to really make it worth it over an 18.

I suspect November will role out their best "get rid of 17s" deals if inventory still has a good many.
