Ok guys

I just got a quote back from an independent suspension specialist that is so good I had to check with you all to see if its too good lol. No really it is 70% less than I had been quoted previously.

Is anyone willing to share the labour component of getting steeda springs installed and the steeda stop hop installed?

Thanks in advance

Hi Stubi,

I thought some DIY'er on this forum could help you out with the install mate. If you were in melbourne I could've done it for you mate but you in ACT. Far far away from home

I'm not anywhere near a mechanic myself.... But I managed to fit the majority of stuff in at home, but will agree that the springs are something I'd rather take to a shop just for safety. That and any brake related stuff.

Labor costs are just ridiculous for some stuff. Got quoted $200 for the dashcam wiring/install... rofl

Had some disappointing news today for my mustang :( Have had to cancel my order for the Velgens and new tyres for now. I was getting them included in my lease and when the final quote came back today I completely forgot about luxury car tax. The wheels, tyres and suspension take me well above it and would add $2500 of LCT to the car. So I'm just going to order the springs from CJPP now and pay cash to have them installed. Will order the Velgens and new tyres in 6-12 months time when I have a spare $6000.

Still have the magnaflow exhaust, opticoat and window tinting including in my lease. This pushes me just over the LCT threshold resulting in about $150 in tax. Can handle that though. Can't handle throwing $2500 away. Lesson for anyone looking to include addons in their order! The LCT threshold for our cars is $63,184.

Excellent so far, clarity is insane. At least there are speed camera and mobile speed camera zone warning now. Got it for free as a birthday gift in February, so can't complain lol...

The wifi stuff work great. Don't know why people were complaining about it. Never had an issue with mine (running on Android S6 Edge).

The rear one isn't as awesome as the front, but that may be because of interference from that line (defroster?). Had 2 choices, either put it in a non visible place but in front of a line. Or... Visible and ugly mount with no line.

That's unfortunate man... :(

Hope you end up getting them later on.

Try buying a 'vert - instant LCT :p

Didn't know cameras had that kind of functionality - that's awesome. Yet another thing to add to potential shopping list (gah! :frusty: )

Don't know if this helps... But I got an email from Carbon Car Systems (Sydney) about a 10% off for Thinkware today.

Great deal if they let you just buy the camera. If they need to install it and slap a $200+ install bill on you... then not so worth it.

This is where I got mine:

http://www.elite-electronics.com.au...re_F750_32GB_Wi-Fi_GPS_1080P_Full_HD_Dash_Cam

I'm pretty sure she paid $600 or so all up for front and rear + hardwire kit. Their ebay store says $430 front only. Not sure why it's $668 on the main store (all up), either the price has gone up or...

Just don't use the collision detection/warning thing. Beeps when you're 2 cars away. It's annoying as fu.....

EDIT: Sorry, that's the 32gb. That explains the price. Just get the cheapest one and get a Samsung Evo Plus 128GB. Works fine.

Yeh it is :( love those wheels. But I have every intention of eventually getting them and the Mrs wants me to as she knows how much I like them. She was happy for me to go through with the order with the LCT on but I just don't like wasting money like that. Could spend that $2500 on other mods! Give me 6-12 months and I'll have the velgens. :) Got to look at the positives that my car is only a month or so away and it's still going to be awesome with what I've already ordered for it.

Yeh I feel for vert owners. It's a ridiculous tax that has no place in the modern motoring industry in Australia. Especially now that we have basically 0 local production. And I have no idea how a $63,000 car is considered luxury. A good car yes. Hardly luxury at that price point.

Nice! Did you install it yourself? I was definitely thinking of this mod but if I done it myself the front camera would more than likely be filming the Sky and the rear would probably show me a great view of the parcel shelf.

Did you have the issue the UK guys were talking about...... making the motion sensor work etc?

Haha... nah it's not that bad. It took me all up like 30 minutes to set it up. Inclusive of hiding the wires. Can't see any wires now, apart from the ones coming out of it and into the roof lining.

Besides, the camera lens itself is movable AND you can view the image/video live feed whilst mounting it. So pretty much impossible to stick it incorrectly.

The problem is basically no live continuous source of power inside the cabin fuse box. I've wired it to the cabin fuse box at the moment but left the wires unconnected. Using the cigarette adaptor temporarily until my fusetaps arrive from Melbourne. Then I'll hardwire it and close up that panel.

If you want the motion sensor/parking mode to work, you will need to route a live "continuous" power supply directly from the battery or from a fuse/wire in the main engine bay fusebox, through the wheel well, into an appropriate gromet/hole and fish it through to connect to the Thinkware hardwire cable. All in all, a lot easier than it sounds.

Why haven't I done it? Same reason I waited to do a lot of mods... lazy + lack of time lol. Will do it soon. For now, it'll be just regular dashcam + 90 mins parking mode until the interior power gets cut

I am feeling your pain. The tax applies to the figure before rego and insurance tho. I am looking at a supercharger for my GT and I have to pony up some dollars to ovoid it as my car is leased and I wanted to include it with my fiancé. I still have 10 months to save all good
