what takes place at the shelby place in vegas?

according to the dealership i am purchasing the car from the car goes from the ford plant to las vegas to be "shelby-ized". he said essentially a mustang gt is sent to vegas with a motor in it, and then at the shelby plant they put the voodoo motor in, suspension, interior,

why would ford put a motor in a car that is just going to be taken out and replaced with another motor? i'm calling BS on the dealer's information but i know people on this forum know way more than most dealership guys.

also i was wanting them to eliminate the ott stripe because i don't want it and want to save 400 bucks and they said it was too late to change anything.

any insight as to what actually happens in the production phase would be awesome!

Complete and utter horse sh*t. Shelby american has zero part in the manufacturing of the GT350, those are 100% built and shipped from Flat Rock, MI. The GTs that get souped up and sold by Shelby American are just that, GTs that have been souped up and sold by Shelby American.

If you are buying a GT350 with a Voodoo engine it is completely assembled by FoMoCo.

Your guy is only 50 years off. They did do that back in 65-67, but that practice stopped when SA defaulted. Ford builds them completely in Flat Rock.

If I understand this right . . . You are placing an order to have a GT350 built to your specifications and you are about to deliver the down payment $. If this is not a car that the dealer already ordered to their specifications, then go back and get the order changed. There should be plenty of time to make an order change. If they are charging ADM, then you can use the stripe issue as leverage on the price. The stripes are fairly easy to remove if you don't want them.
