Here is a shot of mine, the raw metal from the top bay and the back of the seat, even my 2011 had material. Does everyones look like this or just mine?

OOPS...my trunk lid has the thickest padding in the whole car, about 1 inch thick or more! There is also carpeting that sweeps up from the trunk floor against the front of the trunk with some kind of attachment buttons. I do have the EcoBoost Premium convertible...I don't know if all of the 'extra' padding and carpeting is part of that option or not.

Your Trunk picture is the same as mine. Guess they put extra insulation in up in Minnesota.

I can't believe how utilitarian your premium car trunks look. Maybe that's why my trunk closes with just two fingers...all the weight of the padding on the lid. (My premium EcoBoost is missing the 'expected' grill shutters...so Flat Rock compensated me by putting all that padding in the trunk?).

Not the lid, below the top and the back of the seats is what I question.

Mine looks the same. I'm tall so until I saw this thread I never noticed. Had to stick my head in the truck to even see it. I'm guessing any padding would reduce storage capacity. Either way it doesn't bother me.

I was very surprised at the lack of material to cover the sheet metal. Also below, i the spare tire well, it is all exposed metal. My 2000 Sebring convertible has the grey carpet lining it's spare well. And the entire underside is bare sheet metal. I am amazed at how sparse so many things are on the Mustang. Ford really saves money on materials. The carpet like pieces that are at the back of the rear wheel wells... Really???
