I’ve been forgetting to check my catch can. What’s puzzling is I changed my oil a little before winter storage - car has been out for a week and only driven about 20 miles and oil looks dirty.

Found out the garage have over filled my oil from the other week. Nearly 9.9L was added. Dipstick is well over. Going back tomorrow to have some sucked out. Good job I haven't driven the car much.

That doesn't seem terrible. Taking filter capacity into account, a half liter isn't anything to worry about. How far over the full line is it?

So the dipstick has the cross hatched area, then a circle above that and the oil level is above that circle. I'm gonna ask for half a litre to be taken out if possible.

Top of the hash marks is max level cold. The top hole is max level hot. If the oil is above the hole then they definitely need to remove half a liter.

No they don't. Being a bit over won't hurt a thing.

These cars hold 10 quarts of oil. Being 5% over is nothing.

I washed out my AFE Dry air filter and emptied/cleaned the oil catch can. It had about two tbsp in it after about a year and 6.5k.
