What did I do to my GT350 today? I let the wife drive it for the first time.

Thankfully my wife doesn't drive a stick shift. She's lucky I even let her sit in the passenger seat.

My wife has not drove a stick since she owned a 1988 Toyota Tercel EZ (Google that for the performance specs, I dare you…. WOW).
She drove my Shelby after 31 years of NO manual shifting and did FANTASTIC.
Her hand/eye/foot coordination is unbelievable. I taught her how to shoot, and she holds a tighter pattern than me most of the time… I taught her how to play golf and she was shooting in the 80’s within 5 years…. She now scores lower than me most of the time.
At 5’-0” tall and 103 lbs., getting her to be able to reach the pedals and see over the dashboard was a chore in the GT350 with the Recaro seats.
Great car and talented wife…!

Funny thing is my wife drove it for five minutes and was done. I think she was afraid that I would blame her if a pigeon shit on it while in her control.

The little women is no stranger to manuals. She drives it just fine thank you.
The problem for me is she won’t drive it. Maybe this conversation can help her with that.
Truth is I love sharing this car with those who are interested.

Before we got married I taught my wife to drive standard shift on my 1987 Thunderbird Turbo Coupe. She used it as her daily for awhile. 27 years later when we bought “our” a GT350 she had no desire to drive it. And that’s fine with me.

Same here. Wife had a manual 03GT and 08GT before we got the 350. She gave the 08 to our nephew and taught him to drive it.

My wife was driving a manual Honda Accord when I met her. She is not as much of an auto enthusiast as I am and so drove the family vehicle while we raised the kids. When we became empty-nesters, she got a 2019 30th anniversary bright orange manual RF Miata. She drives the Shelby from time to time but does not care for the "noise". It is kind of cool that we both have numbered cars and the Miata is a fun car to toss around.

My wife has been driving manual most of her life. When I purchased the Shelby she was the first to drive it after I got it home. Took her less than 15 minutes to get comfortable and start revving it out. Went on a 3 day drive through the TN mountains with 100 other Shelby's this past June. Tackled the Dragon, sequoia, devils triangle etc.. She drove 50% of the time and never missed a beat. Found myself a gem 33yrs ago.....
