Because I’m wearing my favorite Brooks Brothers blazer today…

  • Brooks Brothers has dressed all but 5 US Presidents (those five served before BB started business).
  • Brooks Brothers was contracted to dress the Union army. The quality of the uniforms was so bad that Brooks Brothers is cited as the reason the word “shoddy” was introduced into the American lexicon.
  • From 1865 to 2003 you could not get a black Brooks Brothers suit. Many said that it was because Abraham Lincoln was wearing a black Brooks Brothers suit when he was assassinated. Brooks Brothers has never officially commented on this but did bring black suits back in 2003

A Q-Tip on a smooth floor will keep a cat entertained for at least 20 minutes.

Benjamin Franklin did experiments with electricity. Ok, you already knew that. He did experiments with Leyden jars. In some of these experiments he would connect the jars and line them up in rows and columns. They reminded him of a battalion of cannons, also known as a battery. See where this is going? Yes, Benjamin Franklin was the first person to use the term "battery" to describe an electric storage device. Here's a photo of his battery of Leyden jars.

Henry Ford’s first working internal combustion engine prototype was built on top of his kitchen sink. His wife Clara poured gasoline into the chamber while he operated the crank. I wonder if this is where the term “everything but the kitchen sink” came from.
