How much money will that rainy day be if you stocked it away and you waited 20 years? Then you could buy 3 or 4 like other older farts. They deserve what they now have.
As an old fart I resemble that remark!

For example, if your GT payment is $300, and the GT350 payment without touching the rainy day fund will be $550
Cosmo,

Either you have put a lot of money down, or you are financing forever, or you have a Balloon loan.

My payment on an MSRP loan for 48 months is just about $1200 per month.

$550?

OP, if you are not putting a bunch down, plan your finances acordingly

Buy the gt350 they seem to be keeping their value way better than a Gt! If the rainy day comes , just sell it and buy a gt again!

You really aren't going to take advice from strangers , but if you are I've got a deal for you. No really ...nobody can give you advice except people that you know and respect. Rainy day fund has me concerned. It's the bare minimum everyone should have. But remember for some it's $12,000 and others it's $50,000 and more it just depends on how much you make and spend. Rule of thumb 6 months salary.

Was an example, I don't know what his actual situation looks like. Those aren't my payments.

Ok fair enough cosmo.

OP, throw a 10K ADM on top of MSRP and for a 48 MO loan you are looking at about $1500 or more per month (depending on your credit and interest rate) if you put 0 down.

Best of luck in your decision OP.

I think what you have got is great. Is the GT350 that much better?

Not that much when you have priorities. You have got a really sick car. No sense in making life tougher by upgrading an already great ride.

Save up for the GT350.

Simple answer, if you really have to ask the question you have the answer. Save and wait a year and re-evaluate the market and your life situation.

Ah, damn temptation still lingering.
My dealer has a few 2016's left over currently marked 5k below MSRP
I'm now in a situation that I can put some money down, keep my payments the same (although going back to 5 years of payments) and still have a rainy day fund of 6 months salary. Why do I want it so badly!

Trade

So I have the money to make the trade anD basically keep my payments the same, but essentially I would be blowing my rain day fund. It's a tough urge to fight. Be a kid and have fun or be a responsible adult?
If you can't afford it don't do it. Everyone should have a prudent financial
reserve in case of unseen problems ie: health, job etc....................

Spartacus says "buy it". You could get hit by a bus tomorrow. Might as well be in a 350 when you go.

I believe in keeping a little money for the "rainy day" but I know people who do nothing but save for that "rainy day" that never comes. Then you pass away and all your "rainy day" money goes to someone else.My motto is live everyday like it's your last....one day, you'll be right :D
