So I have the money to make the trade anD basically keep my payments the same, but essentially I would be blowing my rain day fund. It's a tough urge to fight. Be a kid and have fun or be a responsible adult?

Me crazy, and I can't help myself
are you asking what you should do or asking if anyone here wants to make the trade with you?

It would be just as tough a decision for me. I would say be a responsible adult and keep the rainy day fund. You can always keep your eye in the market for a future used 350 at a cheaper price. It will be just as fun to own and drive a year from now.

Having financial security allows me to sleep but to each their own.

Yes that is definately the responsible thing to do. Sigh. I suppose I just need to be patient!

Don't touch the rainy day fund. That's the whole purpose of it, for a rainy day. And if that day comes, trust me, even the 350 wouldn't lift your mood if you're running low on cash.

Take a look back at your finances over the last year. For example, if your GT payment is $300, and the GT350 payment without touching the rainy day fund will be $550, what would your financial situation look like today with the GT350 payments instead of the GT payments? Would it have prevented you from doing something, missing out on anything, etc? Keep in mind the additional gas expenses, insurance, everything.

Are you financially strapped? is your job in peril? How long will it take to recoup your saving? If this is that much of a concern, maybe you should wait.

I think I will play it safe. I'm going to start putting away some extra money each month and wait until I have enough saved up. No more spur of the moment 'I want it now' purchases.
My job is pretty secure and I am financially sounds but the economy in my area is in rough shape. You never know what could happen.

Get the GT350 - all other rainy day ideas suck.

How much money will that rainy day be if you stocked it away and you waited 20 years? Then you could buy 3 or 4 like other older farts. They deserve what they now have.
