Just for reference, I purchased a 200GB flash drive for my 2016 Mustang w/ Sync 3, and it works for music, no problem. I have over 100 GB of music on it. IIRC I didn't have to format this flash drive because it arrived already formatted to FAT32. I just uploaded my entire library onto the drive, then plugged it into the center console USB port and voila.
I did notice the other day that it was indexing for a while upon startup. But If I'm playing a song when I turn the car off and then start the car up the next day it picks up right where it left off. The only issue is that voice commands for picking artists only seem to work with artists early in the alphabet (I presume because I have too many files for the voice command to find/index).
