Everyone's persepctive on the eclipse is different because they're on different parts of the Earth. Your angle of viewing in Florida relative to the moon and sun is poor to see anything but a partial eclipse. Parts of the US that line up perfectly between the moon and sun will go completely dark for a moment.
My father drove down to missouri to do some professional shooting through a high end telescope for the eclipse, they had 100% totality. He said it was crazy, and that the photos and time lapses came out amazingly.
we were around 95% near louisville. It didnt really get dark, but the outside lights kicked on automatically and it got cooler. However, if you had the viewer glasses or made a pinhole viewer it looked neat.
