So I'll be using my factory Performance Pack wheels as my winter set and was wondering if anyone has any experience with snow tires?

Price isn't a huge factor as this will be my daily driver and safely making it to work in the snow the best I can in a RWD car is more important than saving a few bucks.

Any suggestions are appreciated.

X-Ice Xi3's are the best winter tires out there. I have them on 18" cheap wheels, don't know if they make them in 19" sizes that will fit on EB PP wheels.

Generally speaking, unless you're in DEEP snow, like deeper than the axles, you want a narrower tire than a wider one.

The ecoboost pp rims are 19 * 9. If were looking for winter tires should the rims be narrower then the 9 inch to get a narrower tire?

I have 235/50R18's for my XIce tires, but those are on 18x8 wheels. The OEM tires on the Ecoboost PP wheels are 255's; you might be able to fit 235's on the 9 inch wheels, not sure.

X-Ice and Blizzaks are very well regarded, but why don't I hear about Nokian anymore? I was really looking at some Hakka R2's, but how well do they fare to X-Ice 3 these days?

Nokian tires are and will always be the best snow tires available. The problem with them is limited availability and (depending on the size you're looking at) ludicrously high prices based on that limited availability. If you can find 18" or 19" Nokians that fit for less than $300 a tire, definitely go with those.

A franchise tire shop in Canada (Kal Tire) carries the Nokian line, I think they're the exclusive dealer of them. I believe the Hakka R2's are 282 per tire, and the X-Ice 3 were about 260 per tire. Considering the ~$100 difference, I would opt for the Nokians if they were indeed better.

That would be for the stock GT 235/50R18 BTW.

has anyone tried 235/45/19 tires on the 19x9 wheels? i really think that 255s are wider than i'd really want for snow. unfortunately, there arent too many snow tire choices for 235/45/19.

i did see that someone is running 245/40/19 Blizzaks, but they're a little smaller in diameter than i'd like. The 255/40/19s are already the smallest diameter tires in the 2015 Mustang offering, kind of hate to go smaller yet.
