Smog Shop Wouldn't Test my GT

I have a 16 Mustang GT with a Power Pack 1. Installed at Galpin with an EO sticker placed where it should be on the inside of the hood.

Today I went to get my first SMOG check since I purchased the car new.

Basically the guy pulled up the EO# info in his computer and said because it was for a Ford Mustang GT 350 and not a base GT he couldn't test.

That seems...extreme. Is that just a guy out of his depth or should I be looking into this more seriously?

I'm thinking of just going to another shop to see what they say.

Why not go a different shop?
You'll find out the first shop was right, or really wrong.

When you say power pack one are you talking about Roush which is CARB legal or something else?

It's the Force Performance Power Pack 2. I'm going to take it to another shop and see if I run into the same thing.

California SMOG testing is such a weird system.

Yep…gotta shop the smog shops, sadly.

I had one that wouldn’t pass my blue air filter, and another that didn’t recognize the JLT cold air, that was not legal

I ended up having to take my '07 Shelby GT to a Ford dealer that did smog testing because of the CAI.

It’s unfortunate but you really have to shop around for all automotive services.

It sounds like this particular tech has a smooth texture inside his cranial cavity so it’s best you find a different shop.

It took two more tries but I found a friendly place that did it.

They were thorough, looked up the part # from the EO sticker, asked a few questions. Joked around and that was that.

Good to know. By the time my emissions test needs to be done I should be long gone to Florida but it’s good to know you passed.
