Scuff plates not lighting

Hi All
My near side scuff plate does not light up when I open the door. Is this normal, the off side does light up.

Just had a look and some of the colours don’t work on the near side. Might be a duff led possibly.

They connect just under the plastic trim that covers the sill (on the inside of the car) :

It might be worth checking the connection for dampness - the mustang dumps quite a bit of water on the outer part of the sill, pretty much right on the illuminated plate.
