Shouldn't matter. But if you're in a corporate environment there are a number of reasons this could be happening. Otherwise I'd set it up on your router and go from there.

My response was a joke. :) daltron's suggestion of changing DNS is a good start. But a 404 isn't a 'bad gateway"; that's a 502. Best to figure out if it's a 404 not found, or a 502 bad gateway first.

Edited my post to reflect the actual error. It is indeed a 502.

Either way the thumbs gallery template is working but showing broken linked images. Clicking on those thumbs give a new page with the 502. For me, it is doing it from work behind the corporate firewall and at home on my personal connection.

That is interesting. Different computers, I assume? It could be that you're just hitting the server at a bad time? Try right now, it seems to be working for me.

What's your IP address? Just google "What is my IP?" (PM it to me please, don't post publicly)

Not necessarily. Depending on what the host is using for an IPS, it could be blacklisting your IP either at the network or server level. You can look your IP up using IPVoid or Cymon Tools to see if it's on a known blacklist as well.

... or the server he has the images hosted on is shared and that servers IP is blacklisted by my ISP?
