So I've started a new DIY project for the hood. Everyone always comments on the pony puddle lamps and they do look pretty cool. So I though what if you could do the pony light so it shines on the underside of the hood when you open it at night?

I got some parts off ebay like a contact switch and a set of puddle lamps and I am currently creating a mounting bracket for the light. I'm about 90% done with the bracket design and should have something posted up soon. in the evening and low light it looks pretty neat.

More to come. :ninja:

First Prototype finished

I finished my first prototype and have some pictures below. I mounted it off the passenger side radiator support bracket using the stud and the push pin that holds the radiator cover on. It's not going anywhere, super sturdy.

I mounted the contact switch on the passenger side just at the end of the weather stripping in an existing cutout. Fuse box is only 12 inches away so super easy to wire up everything as it is all within a foot and a half of everything.

I tweaked the angle on the mount to line the pony up so it is more in the center of the hood but this picture is the version before that.

I'll try to get a better picture of the pony with the new angle and without all the glare.

I got the light off ebay.

I'm still working on the trunk light and going to tie it into the trunk light power source.

I'm currently making some modifications to the mount because it just barely touches the underside of the hood when it is closed so I am going to give it some more clearance.

Going on vacation this week so next week before I can get this finished.

My favorite post!

Once you're done with the final install, would appreciate if you could list down the parts and install steps with wiring diagrams so we can all share the love :)
