I did a search for this but didn't come up with anything. From what I can tell, the oil life monitor is basically based off of how many miles are on the car and not the actual quality of the oil. Is it possible to change the interval at which the oil life monitor tells you it's time for a change? I'm going to change the oil every 5000 miles regardless, but my OCD would feel better if the oil life monitor was on the same page.

It's based on an algorithm, engine load, rpm, temp, lots of things play into it. Most fords without the algorithm are around 7500 mile mark, so I'm sure that changing it every 5k is probably a waste of money. Ill do mine every 6 months or 7500 miles whatever is first.

Oil is cheap and I run mine pretty hard so I'm cool with the 5000 mile interval. I didn't know there was an actual algorithm to it.

The manual says 7000-10,000 miles normal driving (or generally held once per year). No reason to change any sooner unless the monitor says to or you do hard driving. Just wasting money on oil that isn't bad.
